Been watching/listening to some Shakira videos lately. Wow. Good danceable pop, and Jesus Christ that woman can move. :eek: If I’m interested in getting any of her albums, which would you recommend? I don’t mind Spanish language ones, though I don’t speak much of it. ---

Her old stuff in spanish is rock, not pop. It is obviously much much better than the stuff she’s putting out now. ---

_Pies Descalzos_ is great if only for “Estoy Aqui,” possibly one of her best songs. ---

I haven’t heard her Spanish stuff, but I’ve seen her cover rock songs live on some of the awards shows and, yeah, the girl can rock. ---

Her album “Laundry Service” from 2001 is quite good; “Oral Fixation” from 2005 is also good. Her latest album, “She Wolf,” is not nearly as good. I don’t know any of her Spanish language albums; maybe I’ll look into them someday. ---

Yeah, I’m a straight woman but I’d make an exception for her. 🙂 Music wise I’m waiting for the Greatest Hits, though, as I think most albums have a few killer tracks and then quite a few fillers. Don’t know the Spanish albums, though. ---

As a rule, if it is an artist who started singing in Spanish, and is widely known in Latin America, the Spanish albums and versions of the English tracks are many times much better than the English CDs. This applies to Shakira, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony (although I think he started in English), and I think a couple of others. The first three albums of Shakira are my favorites, including Pies Descalzos, which was the first. Or at least the first one with international broadcast. Of the later albums, I realize I like the Spanish versions of the songs that much better. Loba, the Spanish counterpart to She Wolf, is an awesome catchy song (ignore the video)… It just doesn’t work the same in She Wolf. There may be an older Greatest Hits album, but it is in Spanish. 🙂 ---

Then again, I suppose after all those contortions, anything would look natural. ---
