“Thy Brow is Adorned with Black Gold”, by the incomparable Arik Einstein (with Yehudit Ravitz and Korin Allal on backup):

Cyndi Lauper sings ‘At Last’ - just amazing. A bit of piano accompaniment. Her voice soars into outer space, that long last note - breathtaking.

I’ve posted 2HB by Roxy Music on these boards more than once, so I’ll go a different way. Glory Box by Portishead:

Your post inspired a deeper dive into Seventies/Eighties Israeli pop. Thanks!

I’ve always loved San Francisco (Wear some flowers in your hair). Scott McKenzie was an amazing singer.

^^

Funny story: my father was born in 1935, too early to really get rock’n’roll and pop music, so he doesn’t care about it and is more into classic, especially choir music (he’s been singing in a choir for almost 70 years). But every time “San Francisco” comes on the radio, he hums along with enthusiasm. He doesn’t know English and I don’t think he knows what it’s about and the cultural implications, but it’s obviously one of his favorite songs.

Massive Attack - Teardrop:

Duke Ellington wrote a lot of beautiful music, and In a Sentimental Mood is one of his best. Here it is performed by Ellington and Coltrane:

While it has some crazier moments later on, “Starless”, overall, is a very nice composition.

Also Matte Kadusai, if a little on the triste side.
