Most people can name at least some of Sisney’s seven dwarfs. But who wre the other four that were developed but never made the final cut?

These were the ones who never became immortal

Deafy, Dirty, Awful and Biggo Ego

Ozzy Osbourne doused his sister in gasoline and set her on fire, had an affair with a 40-year-old neighbor, had command hallucinations that told him to kill his mother and tried to commit suicide over ten times – all before the age of 14.

Well, VH-1 had one of those “before they were stars” specials, and they showed the actual footage. He wore a three-piece suit and had short hair (but did have a Rasputin beard), but it was indisputably the Z-man. After Zappa ‘performed’, Allen (jokingly perhaps) told him to “never come back to my show again.”

Oops. I should have read the other posts before I responded. Oh well. Funny, but I could have sworn he had a beard when I saw it. I could be wrong about the name too, perhaps. At any rate, VH-1 ran that clip several times a few years ago. Dunno if it’s still in rotation though.
In any case, since I’m posting again, I’ll add some new trivia:

It is illegal for tv ads to show alcohol consumed in any form. Watch any spot for beer, wine, or licquor - you will never see alcohol actually touch anyone’s lips.

Gary Burghoff (Radar O’Reilly on M.A.S.H.) was missing a part of a finger, as a result of a childhood accident. Since a missing finger would have precluded ‘Radar’ from serving in the military, that hand (forget which one) was carefully obscured whenever he appeared on the show.

Martha Stewart is currently serving time in a penitentiary that formerly incarcerated Billie Holliday, Tokyo Rose and ‘Squeaky’ Fromme among others.

Jimi Hendrix was a US Army paratrooper.

Angus and Malcolm Young from AC/DC have an older brother George who was the guitarist in the Easybeats.

Jack Nicholson was in two episodes of the Andy Griffith Show.

Alanis Morrisette was a regular on the old Nickelodeon show. “You Can’t do That On Television.”

The kid from Sling Blade is now playing the quarterback in Friday Night Lights.

fishbicycle, thanks for the words on Victor Borge. I’ve been a fan for over fifty years and still laugh out loud when I see old clips. I used to borrow one of his gags to make my grandkids laugh. He would place a piece of sheet music on the piano and play a strange little piece in a familiar rhythm, then stop, turn the music right side up, and start over again playing the familiar William Tell Overature. He also played Humoresque and would change keys after the first few bars. It was a terrible assault on the ears!

James Stewart and Henry Fonda were roommates at Princeton.

Robert Redford was once a contestant on Name that Tune. I think that was in the 1950’s when Merv Griffin was the host.

Mike Nichols was on the last ship of Jewish refugees that left Europe just before the ill-fated St. Louis.

I taught Glen Close’s husband and knew Oprah Winfrey when she was in high school.

My first mother-in-law sang with Rosemary Clooney. In truth, they were just little girls at the time – best friends when they were growing up. George Clooney’s dad (Nick) was still in diapers when he took a piss on Mom’s songbook.

I almost ran over Danny Thomas with my car. He made a big joke of it by doing a spread eagle against his car door and looking terrified. I couldn’t believe my eyes and I’m sure he knew I couldn’t believe it. What a guy.

I’ll be damned. That is Frank. A weirdly clean-cut Frank, but Frank nonetheless.

Well, might as well contribute… In National Lampoon’s Vacation. you can see several signs my father painted in WallyWorld.

Oh! That tidbit activated my “trivia” gland!

  • James “Scotty” Doohan also has part of a finger missing, I think it is his middle finger on his left hand. It is usually out of the frame, but there are a few Star Trek TOS eps where you can see it.

  • Scotty also supplied many of the voices of aliens and computer systems on TOS as well. The computer voice duties were taken over by Majel Barrett (Nurse Chapel/Loxana Troi/Gene Rodenberry’s wife) in STTNG.

  • And, in a Scotty trivia trifecta, James Doohan also created the basis of the Klingon “language” which started being used in the Star Trek movies. Works such as the bible and some Shakespeare plays have been translated into “Klingon”

  • One more Star Trek nugget: Eddie Murphy’s “Axel Foley” character from Beverly Hills Cop was seriously considered as a main character in the preliminary story meetings of “Star Trek IV”. Murphy approached the producers and director Leonard Nimoy and several meetings were held to develop ways to incorporate the character into the story but they could not come to any agreements. (Leonard Nimoy discusses this in his “I Am Spock” book)

Brigitte Nielsen could have come on board as a Klingon princess with very little need of makeup.

I remember one episode where Radar was filling in for a nurse in the OR and he was all suited up, including gloves, and had his hands up to keep them sterile. I knew about his missing fingers (you can kind of catch glimpses here and there throughout the series), so it was weird to see these two complete hands on him. I guess they had to fashion some prostheses or something for that scene.

Jack Kerouac was quite an athlete in his teens, and legendary Notre Dame football coach Frank Leahy tried to recruit him as a running back. Kerouac elected to go to my alma mater, Columbia, instead.

According to Cameron Crowe, during a tour, King Crimson really did trade a groupie to Humble Pie for a case of beer (this incident was presented, in fictionalized form, in “Almost Famous”).

Not only that, but those two episodes are the only time Nicholson has appeared on a television show (with the exception of a surprise appearance on SNL).

This is a fairly known fact about Nicholson, but here goes anyway: The woman Nicholson thought of as his mother was really his grandmother, and the woman he thought was his much older sister was actually his mother. Nicholson didn’t find this out until a reporter questioned him about it while doing interviews for Chinatown.

*Actor Malcolm McDowell was a coffee salesman in his early twenties. This job was the inspiration for the movie O Lucky Man.

*Anthony Hopkins was a protege of Laurence Olivier. When the re-issue of Sparticus came out in the early '90s, Hopkins re-dubbed Olivier’s lines for some of the deleted scenes.

This is the greatest factoid ever.

Indeed, Jack was 37 years old at the time. As it turns out, the raised by grandmother, sister was real mother situation was also shared by 50s crooner Bobby Darin, guitarist Eric Clapton, Australian singer David Campbell (son of Jimmy Barnes) and serial killer Ted Bundy.

Melissa Etheridge’s former partner Julie Cypher (with whom Etheridge shares custody of two children fathered by singer David Crosby) was once married to actor Lou Diamond Phillips. The three met when Cypher directed one of Etheridge’s videos, and the threesome became fast friends. When Cypher’s affections were transferred from her husband to Etheridge, Etheridge wrote the song The Boy Feels Strange about how the relationship with Phillips broke down.

I heard that, unlike the others, the news completely devestated Bobby Darin and he never got over it.

I would bet it was a pretty common situation back then, as young unwed mothers was frowned upon.

My mother helped write I shot JR by The Wurzels. Her friend’s brother was commissioned to write the song, but he’d never watched Dallas. So he was put in touch with my mother, who was addicted to the serial. He interviewed her over the phone about the soap, and that night churned out the lyrics of the ghastly song, that got into a high position in the UK charts. I can’t find the lyrics online, which is probably a good thing.

My second husband’s father was “Blacky, the bartender” that Johnny Carson talked about, when the Tonight! Show was filmed in NY.

In 1980-81, Philadelphia made history when its four major pro franchises (Flyers, Phillies, Eagles, 76ers) all went to the championship game in their respective sports. Only the Phillies won.

Damn! I should have known it was too cool to be true.

Bela Lugosi died August, 16 1956.
Johnette Napolitano wasn’t born until September 22, 1957.

I mean, I know he was a vampire and all, but …

I thought he was in an episode of The Twilight Zone but I couldn’t find any reference. I’m having false memories! oh no!
