My daughter and her boyfriend are in an argument. A bunch of his family are coming to his town to fish, BBQ, drink and just hang out at a city lake. She doesn’t want him to go. He doesn’t think anything is wrong with it. 1. Minnesota still doesn’t want more than 10 people congregating. There will be at least 26 people there. 2. Four work in a major hospital. 3. Two know they have been exposed to people who have tested positive. 4. No one wears masks and social distancing is not a thing. 5. Her lungs are still not 100% from the flu earlier this year. 6. They’re both essential workers. She works around food all day, he works closely with people on a manufacturing line. 7. A large group of Asians in an already racist town congregating and partying in public is not a smart idea. He’s already dealt with racist verbal crap being yelled at him since the Rona started. He whined that his family rarely comes to town. They live 45 minutes away, it’s not like it’s a jaunt to go see them. She responded that she hasn’t seen her family since December, and plans right now is that they’re not coming up here until August. We used to see each other at least once/month. They went to see his family last month. She knows if he doesn’t go, she will be blamed, and that sucks. ---

I just heard from a Japanese friend. Her friend went down to Australia two months ago. So that would put it at the end of March or beginning of April. She stayed too long,. She can’t go back to Japan until August. ---

The guy who runs the convenience store closest to my office wasn’t wearing a mask tonight. He said that, because he was a good Muslim and his heart was pure, God wouldn’t give him COVID-19. Since he was “healthy and pure” (his words), he wouldn’t even dream of spreading it to anyone else. Therefore, it’s clearly safe for me and everyone else to talk with him, buy stuff from him, etc., no matter who is or isn’t wearing a mask. This is the same guy who says he has a system for winning the lottery. He says he’s not a multi-millionaire because it is God’s will that he be in his current profession and financial state–not because the odds of winning the Powerball are infinitesimally small. He was merely an idiot. Now he’s also a covidiot. Whee!! ---

I’ve lost what little patience I once had when dealing with these people. A woman this morning argued about wearing her mask. I told her I was not in the mood to argue, she could wear her mask or she could leave. Note that we are both masked while having this discussion. She then accused me of “exceeding my authority”, whatever that meant. I told her to get the fuck out. She told me she had friends in Harrisburg (the state capital) which I countered by telling her I had friends in Scranton (just a random town). She realized I was just messing with her at that point; she freaked out, screaming that she was going to see that I was shut down. I was ecstatic! I asked her to make sure I was shut down by Monday, so I could have a long weekend. So far, I haven’t been shut down, but I await word.🙂 ---

Another one! Let’s try again. We are having a virtual medical appointment via audio and video. That means I can see and hear you. You are driving a car. The car is moving. I know this because I can see the background moving. There is a child in the car seat in the back. I am NOT doing this! You can either a)Pull over and park b)Reschedule for another time c)Find another doctor No I do NOT care that you will be home in five minutes. Do you want to REALLY need a doctor? Do0 you want your child to need a doctor? Put down the phone and concentrate on driving. Your allergies/rash/general malaise can wait. ---

I NEVER want to lose one of those babies! Not even inside the car. Sunday I was at a facility where someone needed to check my ID, so I had to remove the mask for a second so the guy could look at my driver’s license picture. The mask loop pulled out one of my earrings, which led to several helpful people scouring the ground (outside) for it, temporarily abandoning social distancing. Bald guys with good hearing and no jewelry who don’t wear glasses have it made. Some of us already have a bunch of crap draped on our heads. Sometimes if it’s a short trip (like 5 minutes), it’s just easier to leave the mask on. If I’m going to be in the car for 15+ minutes, I’ll take it off _carefully_. And yet I do not consider myself a high maintenance person. 😛 ---

There were 2 Covidiot’s involved in this story. My friend an I met up for lunch, she went through a fast food place for her meal and I brought my own from home. We parked under a tree, opened our windows and talked while eating for proper social distancing. Somehow, we started showing off our masks (she works for the state and was issued 1 single disposable, single use mask…and had to sign for it), by holding them up to our faces. She admired one I had, so because I had 2 of them, I reached between our cars and handed it to her. She thanked me and put it on her face to look at herself in the mirror. Couple of non-thinking Covidiots, yes, that was us! ---

Employer covidiot story / rant: For the past week my daughter’s boyfriend’s employer has been offhandedly asking “Hey, how’re you feeling, bro?” He didn’t think much of it. Today he was told to get tested as the guy who works directly next to him is currently in hospital due to COVID. The coworker has been out since last Monday, he thought guy was on vacation as no one said anything. Oh, and when you’re done testing come back and finish your shift. No? Daughter was at work. She called HR, saying she needed to leave, exposure, etc. They asked if she felt fine, and if so to finish her shift. She said no, texted her supervisor, and left. They’ve now both tested and are at home day drinking. I couldn’t believe what their employers said. Come back? Finish your shift? ---
