> I’m again in agreement with **Mama Zappa**. Both my parents with-held information about their health from me; I do not think they were lying. I think they did not want me to worry. I never really had a clear picture of what was going on until I attended a few doctor visits with my mom, and then my dad. I was asked what prescriptions he was taking by his doctor (queue deer-in headlights look). When I finally had the list, I had no idea he was on so many meds, for so many conditions.

> **Skald** , there are some good bits of advice so far in this thread. What are your thoughts for your situation? Does any of this advice help you?

I’m just now reading the thread today. The baby’s been sick.

> While, from a logistical standpoint, the move to New York makes a lot of sense, it isolates him from everyone else. People who are strangers to him. Strange ways. No friends. No places he likes to go. New doctors. New church (if that’s an issue). In short, tons of drawbacks that make it a second choice if even that..

Yeah, you’re right.
Thinking further about this, I’ve moved away from the New York option. However, though I’m willing to have him move in with us in THEORY (by which I mean the wife & I would have to find a bigger apartment so he could have his own bedroom rather than displacing anyone), I absolutely refuse to countenance us moving in with HIM. I know him to well to think that’d work, and I resent the implication that our choice to live in an apartment (made because we both prefer living it to a house) is somehow inferior to the decision by the other Memphis residents to buy houses (especially since the sister who thinks houses are such a great investment has difficulty paying her mortgage).

\*\*Dendarii \*\*, funny that you mention appliance repair. The oven on the stove in question stopped working in November, and Dad resisted calling a repairman–not because he can’t afford it, but because he was sure he could handle it himself and/or fix it by praying over it. One of my sisters and I ended up calling Sears to handle the repair.
