Just had my fourth weekly weigh-in after 3 weeks on Weight Watchers. I’m down 8.2 pounds (12% of what I need to lose total) and 1.2 BMI points, and I’ve lost 1/2 to 1 inch on various body measurements.

I was never a “joiner” and I thought I’d hate the “counting points” thing and tracking everything I eat, but it’s kind of fun (I use the online tools as well as attending meetings with a friend), and it sure seems to work! I feel like it’s automatically training me to think the right way about food and activity, just by how it’s set up.

Go me! (with an enthusiastic plug for WW)

I just signed up; apparently there’s already a Sigmagirl :frowning: so I’m Sigmagirl Doper. I was an extremely skinny child until my mother died when I was 7; my father couldn’t cook so he just started bringing home potato chips. My sister and I both got fat and remained fat through our adolescence. I lost a great deal of weight after he died, and I think that wreaked havoc with my metabolism.

I have a lot of heart disease in my family and at my last doctor’s appointment my weight was just shocking. I’ve been very, very strict since Easter (only a little more than two weeks, I know) and my clothes feel looser, although I haven’t weighed myself. I’ve been having bad, bad migraines and haven’t been able to do much about exercising, but at least I’ve been walking the dogs. It’s pretty easy through the day, but then I make dinner and the problem is portion control. I eat carrots and cottage cheese before dinner, and that helps.

WW cheerleader here. I like the WW’s on-line system. It’s easy for me to keep up with what I eat. I’ve been on it for just over a year and I’ve lost 83 lbs with about 65 left to hit my personal goal (200 lbs at 5’ 11").

When I started (@ 349), I was pre-diabetic. At my yearly dr’s appointment, she told me I’m no longer in danger of diabetes. I’ve had med levels cut twice and now one of my biggest goals is to lose enough that she takes me off them permanently.

What other folks have said - portion control, get off your ass and move.

I am lucky in one sense because I’m a big salad / veggie lover. That made part of adjusting my diet pretty easy. I’ve found that the only thing I really CRAVE is potato chips and, honestly, that comes about once a month. If I can divert the crave on to either 94% FF popcorn or pretzels, I’m good.

The struggle for me is to move and it’s one that I don’t always win.
