Why, they asked, does Hollywood always look for name male actors in their big franchises, and then always cast disposable no-name starlets with no experience alongside them? They then went on to list a bunch of established female stars they wish had been given a chance instead of what’s-her-name from that soccer movie. This was evidence, so they said, of how established women have a bias against them because Hollywood always prefers a younger nobody to an older star. ---

it looked to me that Mikey Rourke as Marv stole “Sin City”. It was an ensemble piece but really, when you think of “Sin City” you think of Marv. Rosario Dawson also did a very good job of embiggening her character a great deal … she projected real menace. ---

Given that information, I’d say he was played up after they realized he was going to be giving such a good performance. This makes him the rare example of someone who stole the show before it was released. (Heath Ledger’s The Joker would also qualify, although he did it much later in the cycle.) ---
