This reminds me – Brad Pitt was incredible in Snatch. It was a great movie with a large cast of great actors all doing a great job, but yeah, Pitt snatched it away from all of them.

James Gandolfini had the best scene in True Romance. He didn’t run away with the movie, but if he was given more screen time he probably would have.
Thank you! When True Romance came out in 93, I said, “Damn, that Gandolfini cat is going to be a huge star one day. The way he delivered that rueful smirk right after clocking Arquette was understated, but brilliant. Mark. My. Words.”

Here’s a dark horse… Absence of Malice
The movie was convoluted and talky, and about 100 minutes in the 116 minute long film, was nowhere near being resolved. Then Wilford Brimley of all people comes in as Judge, Jury, and Executioner, wraps everything up (in what was easily the most electric scene in the movie), departs, and after a goodbye scene between Paul Newman and Sally Field, ROLL CREDITS.
It was Deus Ex Brimley, especially since he’s tenth-billed on the film. That one scene was the only time you saw his character.
Oh, absolutely. Here’s the scene, in two parts
My own thought is that Forest Whitaker was by far the most developed character in the first Species movie.

He was good, but no-one stole that film away from Gary Oldman, aiight?.
The point was made earlier that all the side characters stole the movie from the two leads. (Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, James Gandolfini, Brad Pitt, Bronson Pinchot.)
Leonardo Dicaprio in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?

Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Order Of The Phoenix.
Yes, that was the one I was going to post. The girl is rivetting.

- Marty Feldman in “Young Frankenstein”
Gene Hackman in “Young Frankenstein”.
A real stole the movie? No big stars in characters roles - or roles you suspect were cut to hell for sub-par performance? No two star films? No simple scenery chewing? (And I do love Alan Rickman)
Pamela Reed & David Caruso in “Proof of Life”. Particularly the 3 second scene on the patio.
Well, maybe they didn’t steal it, but the movie would have been completely meaningless without them.
I think Jane Lynch in Julie and Julia stole scenes from Meryl Streep. Might be the first one who ever managed to do so.
I thought Sam Shepard stole the few scenes he was part of in “The Notebook.”

Was The Devil Wears Prada supposed to be Anne Hathaway’s movie, or Streep’s? If it was Hathaway’s then Streep stole it out from under her.
I won’t say Katy Jurado stole *High Noon *from Gary Cooper, but she sure as hell won the hand in every scene she was in, including the scenes she shared with Grace Kelly.
I’d say James Earl Jones stole Field of Dreams from Kevin Costner, but I’d also say the same about Ray Liotta, Burt Lancaster and even Amy Madigan, so that isn’t a good example.
Sean Connery in The Untouchables.
