Major congratulations, and may you have many, many happy years together.
Oddly enough last night was our anniversary, or one of them. Our true, legal marriage was the product of an elopement, but we had another ceremony nine years and one day ago for the benefit of my parents. (Hers passed away long ago.) So every year we celebrate two anniversaries.
Amazingly enough, the card she found for me actually does say Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Anniversary.
We had a bit of luck last night, too, and while it doesn’t compare to an accepted proposal of marriage, still I think it comes damn close. We got seated at one of the best Italian restaurants in West L.A. and Santa Monica…as walk-ins! We had actually made reservations elsewhere at a place we had not been to for years, but remembered liking. Big mistake. When we got there, the place was nearly empty (at 7PM), and I suspect they only go through the ritual of reservations to give a false sense of popularity. It was so unappealing that we left. Bigger mistake, you would no doubt think. And we were turned away at three more places before deciding to give it one more try before heading home.
And after waiting in the entryway about 25 minutes, sipping wine that the host had brought to us, we were seated. Really amazing.
Poo!
Just kidding, I’m happy for you, really.

Heh! I’m forwarding this over to She-Carnage
Thanks for the well wishes, y’all.
Congrats, man!!!
Were you nekkid?
YAY for you two!
Enjoy the insanity of wedding planning!
Aaaah, that’s sweet story!
Congrats, Maxy.
… Can I have your City of Heroes Influence? You won’t need it anymore.
A big hearty congratulations!
I remember when I proposed to my wife…I was so darn scared. I proposed on the banks of the Seine at night in Paris…somewhat cheesy, but very romantic. I hope that your marriage is as wonderful as mine has been!
There’s nothing better in this world, is there?
Congrats again!
Although I’ve told you in person many times already Max, congrats on this. Hopefully Zuzu will take the news well :).
And now people will get to witness the spectacle of me in a church!
Just some unwarranted advice.
As someone who was forced to register for stuff she knew she would never need and naturally received it, where it was instantly put into a drawer or closet to never see the light of day again until this week - 13 years later - to be put up for auction on Ebay for pennies just to get rid of it as a reminder of the spinelessness years.
Whatever ever you register for, choose wisely.
Conga-rats!!
Today is SWMBO’s and my 154th anniversary. I wish you as much happiness as we’ve had.
I do them monthly - keeps her off balance.
Not to hijack, but she asked…
