Hate to double-post, but I can’t edit my previous post because I waited too long.
On TV, “Scandal” had Irene winning, just as she did in the story; but the TV show continued, instead of having her leave the country to hide her wicked, wicked past, accompanied by her nice lawyer hubbie.
And I can’t find any raised eyebrows in our other Sherlock thread…
Her measurements (343234, IIRC) were the combination to the safe. She was doing it to taunt him, to see if he was worthy of her trust. Of course, it was also to measure the character of he and Watson, and to keep them off-guard.
Like I said, part of the plot. And tasteful, IMO. You saw less actual skin than if she was wearing a bikini, though admittedly, your mind fills in a lot for you.
She took her clothes off to taunt him. And to “measure his character”.
So, nothing to do with Moffatt’s general bling style, which also included carrying Watson off in a black Gov helicpoter, a pointless meeting at Buckingham Palace, the pointless - but so very Moffatt - boomerang death, Battersea Power Staion, the meeting with Mycroft in a plance full of dead people, and so very much more. Bling, bling and more bling.
