Shirley’s one of my favorite posters - in addition to (typically) being quite funny, she’s also very sweet. She missed the mark by a mile in **Tripler** ’s thread, but it strikes me as an unfortunate mistake, not an act of malice by any stretch. ---

Over the years I have known her, (admittedly only through this message board…I’ve never met her in person) Shirley has always proven herself to be a very kind person. I don’t believe she would ever intend to cause hurt to another person…nor would I EVER believe that she would truly find anyone’s death to be anything less than a tragic event. We all have moments where we think things that make sense to “US” because we know where we are coming from and how we mean them…that wouldn’t translate well to anyone who isn’t aware of our sense of humor, where we are coming from and/or so forth. It is always best to keep these comments to ourselves…but sometimes we shoot off our mouth…when it would have been better to keep it to ourself. If it has never happened to YOU, then I congratulate you. I have certainly opened my big fat mouth when I should have kept it firmly shut. It is so VERY much worse when you do it on a public message board, where it is right there in public and even if you explain? People are still going to disbelieve you. I don’t believe that Shirley meant to be unkind. I am quite sure she is sorry she caused hurt. I am also quite sure that nothing she says will satisfy some of you. I hope she will address all of this when she has the opportunity, but I wanted to say that I personally don’t NEED an explanation. She has a good heart, and I know she didn’t mean to offend. ---

She flits around from thread to thread adding lame, contentless, unfunny (in my opinion) jokes without thinking about it. This time she did it in the most inappropriate way one could imagine. That’s what happened. I wish that she would cut it out and at the very least think before dropping off one of her turdlets. ---

Alright. This ain’t my thread, but here’s my two cents. I read her post as an _attempt_ to make a joke, as a pun. I responded that I wasn’t in the mood. I wasn’t, and still ain’t. I’m not hurt, disturbed, annoyed, or otherwise taking offense. She tried, failed, and I responded. End of story. Tripler Here’s three quarters, two dimes, and three pennies in change. ---

I believe **Shirley** mostly sticks to MPSIMS and IMHO - you got a problem with someone posting mundane, pointless things in Mundane, Pointless Stuff I Must Share? We have rules here, and I don’t think Shirley steps over them. The post in question looks like an example of bad judgement to me, but if **Tripler** isn’t getting bent out of shape, I don’t see why anyone else needs to. Before someone goes off about cutting an old-timer more slack than a newby, well, yeah. I’m familiar with her style - I don’t think I’ve ever seen a malicious post from her. ---

So, you’re flaming her for this case in particular or for her perceived (by you) history of lameness? Because the latter should have nothing to do with the first. FWIW, I like **S.U.** and I enjoy her posts and I think it is the first time I have read anything by \*\*hajario \*\*(I guess, don’t remember him from before). ---

Lame and contentless are synonyms for mundane and pointless; I didn’t make a really large leap from that to you criticizing her for being mundane and pointless in a forum that is FOR mundane and pointless, which is where she usually posts. I’m just saying it’s an unfair criticism, is all. (What you see as) a mundane, pointless poster sticking to a mundane, pointless forum is not a crime in my opinion. For the record, I don’t agree with your assessment of Shirley, but that’s probably because I’m so often mundane and pointless myself. ---

I was curious as to which of us was more right, so I did a quick search on **Shirley’s** posting history - she has posted to 88 threads in GQ and GD (which I consider the more factual, less light-hearted fora) in the last year, and 750 threads in Cafe Society, IMHO, and MPSIMS in the last year. I think I’m more right. 😃 ---

I debated as to whether I should post my opinion about Shirley Ujest and, by a narrow-margin victory (8-6 in case anyone’s interested), I opted to do so. I don’t dislike Shirley. She’s witty and not always unfunny. At first, she kept to posting one-liners and harmless quips every once in a while. And then. . ._something_ happened. She was _everywhere_. She became a parody of herself. It seemed like she was trying too hard. It was at that point I started glossing over most of her posts. All of this is my opinion, obviously, and despite the fact that I’m posting it publicly, I’m not trying to hurt anyone.
