Some guy at the park tried to get me to sign a petition for Dr. Shiva to be on the ballet for the upcoming presidential election.
I told him I wasn’t comfortable signing without educating myself of Dr. Shiva’s platform.
I just got around to looking up the good doctor today, and wow. I am so glad that I did not sign that petition. This guy’s a real wing nut. His website only teases his platform. He wants me to watch a video or sign up for his fan club or whatever if I really want to know his position.

One of the most unconscionable things the GOP has done in recent years (which is saying something as they’ve done a lot of unconscionable things) is co-opting this kind of anti-vax nutjobbery.
A decade ago if you heard about this guy and had to guess where he fell on the political spectrum you’d have said either apolitical or the fringe hippy left (it was always part of the extreme fringe right too but not as prominently, and nowhere near the mainstream). It served Trump’s purpose to co-opt it during COVID and now it is the mainstream position of the GOP (having cost of 100s thousands of lives of GOP voters)

FWIW he’s in the alumni directory, he got his BS and MS from MIT also. So the education info is legitimate.
