Yeah, having cancer in both breasts and getting bilateral mastectomies was tremendously funny. I’ll see you all in a year or so–I don’t even have ways to respond, but this isn’t my idea of a good time. ---

I think the joke works as satire. That is, one could take the view that McDonald’s inverting its arches was a mere pious gesture, and that if they were really concerned with the status of women, they would have taken some meaningful and effective action to improve the status or working conditions of their female employees. Sarcastically proposing that the company instead arrange a tastelessly themed hamburger sale in honour of breast cancer awareness would be a Swiftian way of calling attention to the empty symbolism of the arch inversion stunt. But I don’t think Shodan intended for the joke to be interpreted this way. ---
