Those are all restrictions of free speech. Just because you agree with them doesn’t change that.
I’m not sure why selling baby parts is such a vicious lie. They literally transport fetal tissue for medical research purposes, don’t they? Whether they make a buck or just cover their transportation and storage costs seems wholly immaterial, from a PR outrage perspective. I thought advancing medicine and science was supposed to be a good thing.
Saying PP and the left support the killings of millions of babies is more inflammatory than saying they sell the parts, but YMMV I guess.
This is true, although I don’t know whether these videotapes violate libel law (my previous use of the word “libelous” was not, of course, my judgment as an attorney, since I’m not one). Whether they violate the law is an interesting question.
Here, however, I don’t think you’re correct. On a moral level, you’re absolutely right: calling people baby murderers has historically been a way to get people killed. But on a legal level, I think (again, IANAL) it comes nowhere close to “incitement to violence.” Incitement, I think, must be imminent and fairly explicit. Even if the videotapes were playing outside the clinics when Dear started murdering, I don’t think it’d meet that standard: the videotapes, obscenely dishonest though they were, did not include any explicit call to violence.
What Planned Parenthood really does is they provide reproductive services to women. One of those services is abortion. They do not profit off of abortion. They are not making money by performing abortions. Therefore, they lack the profit motive to encourage abortions.
The claim that they’re profiting off baby parts gives them a motive to encourage more abortions. For folks who believe fetuses are babies, it means giving them a motive to kill babies and harvesting their parts.
It’s the difference between a hospital that enables organ donations, and a hospital that sells the organs of deceased patients and starts euthanizing patients in order to increase profits.
