Shooter at Planned Parenthood clinic

What? Cafes? What do cafes have to do with abortion?

Also, I think calling this kook a Christian terrorist is entirely appropriate.

It’s driven by religious fervor. And the willingness to kill in the name of your religion.

That’s my point. What do cafes have to do with France fighting against ISIS? You can find it appropriate if you want but I find entirely unconvincing as a refutation against people obsessing over Muslim terrorism.

But it’s so focused on one specific issue. They aren’t just randomly bombing Catholics or different types of Protestants. They aren’t looking for everyone to bow to the Pope. They want abortions to stop.

Why? What, in your opinion, is the difference between the France terrorists and Dear? They’re both doing it for their ideology based on their religion, aren’t they?

When a Muslim does it, it’s ‘terrorism’.

When a right-wing White guy who is probably Christian does it, it’s a ‘lone wolf attack’.

So, because they’re focused on a single issue they can’t be terrorists?

No, it’s terrorism. But when the IRA was setting off bombs demanding the UK get out of Northern Ireland, only idiots considered it Catholic terrorism.

Calling it Muslim terrorism simply because Muslims are doing it is just as idiotic. Why the double standard? If it is appropriate for Muslims, it is appropriate for Christians as Christians are the only people in the US who terrorize organizations associated with abortion services and kill its workers in the name of their Christian beliefs.

Conservative PC sensetivities must always be considered. If it’s a white guy, it isn’t terrorism. White guys are incapable of terrorism, just sometimes guilty of loving their god and/or their country a little too much. Is that so wrong?

We don’t know if he was right wing. I don’t know. We don’t know. I will wait for more information over the next few hours and days. He’s just a loser, a putz. We just don’t know the politics of this person to make a judgement.

In some cases, but I think if it’s claimed in the name of ISIS or al Qaida I think it’s fair to call it Islamic terrorist.

Can you please clarify what you mean by ‘in some cases’? Thanks.

I will give this lunatic as much consideration as your guys do whenever a Muslim lunatic kills or terrorizes someone, that is to say none. He’s a Christian terrorist until shown to be otherwise.

Like when a group rebelling against a government happens to be predominantly Muslim, calling it Islamic terrorism is often iffy and meant to get Western backing for that same government. You’re welcome.

Given that he gave a neighbour anti-Obama pamphlets and said that Obama is destroying the country, I say that the odds are good that he’s right-wing.

Most of the people running for the GOP ticket feed terrorism such as this.

The same lame excuse will be put forward: he was mentally ill, and it had nothing to do with extreme christianity or the lack of gun control.

Have there been such cases? Not trying to gotcha (getcha?). I sincerely want to know.

In any event, I think your word ‘predominantly’ muddies the issue, and I can see your point if you do mean ‘predominantly’. However, most, if not all terrorist attacks committed by Muslims, at least those I have heard of, are considered Islamic terrorism before any facts are known other than the ethnicities/faith of the perpetrators. I am not arguing that point. I am arguing that, especially with regard to the issue of abortion and any tangentially related services, Christian terrorism is the correct term as it appropriately describes the faith and motivation of those who commit acts that target the livelihood and lives of those who provide services in that industry.

IOW, you’re exactly like “those guys”? Not sure why you would want to be, but whatever you say…

CarnlK: I see what you are trying to say, but it doesn’t really make sense. As long as someone is doing something for a religious cause, then it’s motivated by religion. If this guys turns out to be motivated by Christianity (and we should see soon enough), then what difference does it make whether he targets clinics or cafes? It’s perhaps a bit more extreme and hard to understand to target cafes, but the motivation is what matters. He’s sending a signal: go to an abortion clinic, and don’t be surprised if you end up a victim of violence.

I was pretty quick to believe the guy that shot Gabby Gifford and those other people was a right winger but it became obvious pretty fast that he was just a lunatic with as I recall, no real political motive.
