Shooting of Walter Scott: a death penalty case under South Carolina law?

The US is pals with my fellow Nasty Jews running Israel.
Perhaps we should begin another thread about Palestine.

In which of those cites did any employee of the US government say that their goal is to eradicate all black people?

If you believe that the government’s actions prove their intent, then where is your evidence that any of this has resulted in a decline in black population or will lead to the eradication of blacks?

Read them and find out if any meet your own criteria, which is now an admission that the US government confesses its goal is to eradicate all black people. That isn’t what I accused us of. Eradicate all is a long way from destroy in whole or in part using the methods listed. I get that you are attempting to change the definition of genocide with each post you make, but there is an internationally agreed definition of which the US is a signatory. The US is bound by that definition. It is the UN convention on genocide. Read it as a whole, in context.

So go to the UN and try and convince them that the US is engaged in genocide.

I eagerly await the Secretariat’s proclamation on the matter.

Why would anyone read past that? It’s has absolutely nothing to do with genocide. Besides, serious debaters don’t just do a “wall of cites” without ever quoting the relevant parts. We’re not here to be give reading assignments by you. Make you case in plain text and we’ll take it seriously.

We’re talking about a cop who got pissed at someone for running away. A cop with, probably, a lot of arrogance and a big ego. Was he racist, and did that play into his decision to shoot? No doubt.

But I don’t get the “genocide” talk, as though this were part of some organized effort to wipe out black men. This is about one guy, maybe a racist guy, blowing his top and pulling the trigger.

I live in a city, and in fact in a neighborhood, where white men get gunned down by young black men on a regular basis, usually in the context of a robbery. Two more were killed that way within the past couple of weeks. I could take you on a driving tour and show you where the bodies have fallen around here. Is that also “genocide?” I mean, the victims are white, the shooters are black. Are they trying to wipe white men out?

No, of course not. It is not part of any grand organized plan. We are talking about the actions of a handful of assholes acting on their own motives. Money, usually, no doubt with some racism mixed in.

Sure, you have facts. But he has FEELINGS.

Sampti was asked for cites. I gave cites. You don’t do reading assignments, you just read until you find something you feel doesn’t apply and then you stop reading. Why should I waste my time reading it for you? I can’t understand it for you. Clearly, even if it can be read, you’d refuse first to read it and then to understand it until it started happening to people with your skin color.

When someone has over 50,000 posts, that’s pretty indicative that they don’t have time to read even their own posts.

Here’s the video again. Walter Scott shooting: Police officer faces murder charge in death of black man | CBC News Because reading is too much for some people.

In all fairness, it must suck to be randomly stopped by the police for no reason other than your color. It would make one angry as hell.

Only disagreement is with the notion that 50,000 posts over a 12+ year period is “pretty indicative that they don’t have time to read even their own posts.”

Some days, folks can do far better than the 11 posts on average that it would take to accumulate 50,000+ posts over that span of time. Just sayin’.

You you may well be right about a tactic of reading until X point and stopping (and the why of it); I just didn’t think this helped the argument.

Aside from your assumption, if you have 25% as many posts, does that imply that you are wrong at least 25% of the time?

I gave you the benefit of the doubt and read the first of your “wall of cites with no quotes”. It had nothing to do with the topic of genocide so you lost the benefit of the doubt. Not reading any more of your cites until you quote the parts that you think support your argument. I should have known better in the first place.

Cool phrasing. Not quite a band name.

The thing that irks me most about this case is how the release of the video so exposed the usual (no wall of cites, sorry) cover-up. The police report was totally at odds with the video. And what about the black cop with the blue gloves on, who saw Strager drop/plant the tazer? Does he still have a gun and badge?

That video is just some clips and tv reporters talking. For the record, this is the video:

(Correction: Slager, not Strager)
And yeah, that black cop has some 'splainin to do (regarding seeing the tazer drop and otherwise not doing a damn thing). And anyone else on scene who didn’t even try CPR till the Paramedics showed up.

I’m not so sure the cop would’ve gotten off had there been no video. There’s still the issue of the victim being shot in the back, not at close range. Unless the coroner was in on the cover-up the police report might not have stood up under scrutiny.

I’ll confess to chuckling at the idea the Israeli occupation constitutes genocide since the number of Palestinians has grown dramatically under the occupation.

That seems the very opposite of how genocide is supposed to work.

Words mean different things depending on your FEELINGS.

Oops. Wrong thread to close.

Commence to mocking me…now.

It’s thread genocide!

As I understand it, the shooting was on Saturday, then the police released what seemed an open-and-shut-case police report. The video guy read that police report, got a lawyer (smart) and uploaded his video. It made all the difference in this case. Cop says “He went for my taser” and all is well. Video of cop jogging back to retrieve taser and plant it - not good.

ETA: Geraldo Rivera has something to say so we must hear him. There is a dashcam video
