# Shop class no no’s Shorts, long hair and giant prosthetic boobs?

We know that the people in position to deny that the photo was of the woman in question have not done so, including the woman herself who has now been harassed. And we know that she really does identify as a woman.
I’m sure there are more details we don’t know. But that seems sufficient to refer to this as a case of a real trans woman, and not someone pretending to be trans as a way to attack them.
And that is sufficient for the purposes of my previous comment.

We do? Last I saw, what we had confirmation of was that the picture was not of the person it was claimed to be of, and that the person it was claimed to be of continues to identify as male, and that the people in a position to comment on the photo don’t know who the photo is actually of.

No, what was wrong was the (former) name of the (former) male person, because the person of that name is a different (still male) teacher at that school. I don’t know who provided the name, but it wasn’t the school or the school board. The school board confirmed that the person named has nothing to do with situation. That is, if I have been following this shit show correctly, which isn’t easy. I have not seen any denial that there is a trans woman teacher, nor that she was the person photographed and videoed.

What happened was that another teacher’s NAME was put out there by one source, and it’s not that person. In fact, we do know the actual name of the person in the photos. People in a position to verify the legitimacy of the photos have done so.
Again, I have literal firsthand confirmation. I live in this school district. I have confirmed with two people who teach in this school board that the photos are authentic. The school and school board have confirmed it.

As an aside, there was a “protest” outside the school yesterday. I put “protest” in quotation marks because… well, it was a sad protest. There were about twenty, maybe 25 people milling about at a safe distance. When a local reporter interviewed some of them it became apparent probably half of them didn’t care about the teacher, but were there to bitch about… vaccine mandates.

When you say “verified the legitimacy of the photos,” have you verified that the photos are
1. of a transwoman
2. who sincerely identifies as a woman and
3. whose appearance in these photos is a sincere expression of gender identity (and not, for example, a protest of a dress code)?
If not, what piece of that is not verified?

That the photos are of a teacher at Oakville Trafalgar High School, in Oakville, Ontario, who identifies as a woman.
I can’t read minds, but would remind all that misgendering off-board people is against the rules here (well, and on-board people too.) This person has told their employer they’re a woman, which is about as official as such a statement can be. Questioning this person’s “sincerity” isn’t for us to do here.
It is quite possible to question this ridiculous attire independent of the person’s gender identity. If a cis woman showed up to teach wearing this preposterous getup, would that be acceptable? I mean, just set aside the gender identity thing and go to the issue of the fake tits with nipples the size of hubcaps; if it’s not acceptable for Person A, it’s not acceptable, right? That would surely be the end of the discussion regardless of the gender identity of the teacher.
The Halton District School Board covers an area with a population will over half a million people, and it’s not even the third biggest school board in greater Toronto. I am sure this area had at least a few other transgender teachers before, and they didn’t turn up in the international news. The reason this one did is clearly not just for being trans.

You don’t think that her being trans has anything to do with why this news story has become as big as it has? That being trans is exactly why the OP chose to bring this here?

Could it be… I’m just spitballing here… a protest?
Say this teacher told whoever is in charge about transitioning M-\>F. And that they were not, welcoming or entirely comfortable. I’m sure Canada and the local authorities have rules and regulations in place, but that doesn’t mean that a local administrator is totally neutral, and maybe a remark slipped by, a comment that was out of place.
Shop teacher contacts HR and is brushed off with platitudes and bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo speak: _Of course, we agree that every employee has the right to…_ followed by a wishy-washy excuse from someone somewhat in charge: _In case we hurt anyone’s feeling, we sincerely…_
So shop teacher thinks that they need to be taught a lesson. Do something outrageous, getting outside attention and force whoever’s in charge to publicly support her.
Again, just spitballing. And I do realize that for someone who is in the middle of transitioning, this seems extremely unlikely. Still, it would fill in some gaps in the narrative.

Heh. My SIL didn’t like the dress code at a place she once worked, so she bought the ugliest, fakest-looking wig she could find that fit the letter of the dress code. I suppose something like that is possible.

Oh I’m sure that’s highly probable (you never know, though, especially since the right wing media can turn absolutely anything into fear of “Woke culture.”)
But let’s go to the OP’s question; is it a no-no? I think most reasonable people would say so.
Beyond that there is no point in speculating. We don’t know for sure why the teacher is wearing the ridiculous getup.

The speculation is not as to why she chose to dress the way she did. I suppose we either will find out, or we won’t, depending on whether she chooses to share.
The speculation is to why this is such a _big_ deal, and the reason that is speculated is that transphobes like the OP are making it _into_ a big deal in order to attempt to culture fear, loathing, and hatred in the public, to turn them against the trans community.
I’m personally heavily leaning that way myself.

One of my nephews protested a change in the dress code at his school. Under a zero tolerance policy, no student could carry a backpack but girls could carry purses – so he started carrying a purse.
I’m not aware of what – if anything – came of that.
