I was average height in california (5’9"). Then I moved to St. Paul and became short. Now I’m average again; maybe even tall! Woo hoo! ---

I’m 6’1.5" (about 190 cm) and I think short guys - especially short, skinny guys - are extremely cute. The only problem is they are a pain in the neck (literally) to kiss while standing up. Unless they jump up on you and grab you around your waist with their legs and you support their thighs with your hand. Then it’s superduper sweet. ---

_sigh_ … so many short guys … elbows hit the nail on the head in her post. Part of a short man’s sexiness is his air of self-acceptance and maturity. Part of his sexiness involves accessibility – dancing with a man who’s a foot taller is not enjoyable, and getting him down from that altitude for a kiss is no fun. And part of it is just that I like the way short men look. It’s nice. Wendell, you’re an exhibit A for the short=cool theory. I’m proud of you for not hiding your sexy size, and I hope that soon you’ll meet some women with brains in their heads. Blackclaw, as if your cuteness needed enhancing. Doctor Jackson, I adore you. Tripler: 5’6" and an athlete, too? I may swoon … matt\_mcl, I cannot claim to have shared this particular superduper sweet experience, but I am happy to take your word for it. Vestal Blue, Wolverine, and especially obfusciatrist, don’t feel bad. Not everyone can be short. 🙂 ---

5’6" Checking in here. Problem with some small chaps is that they think they have something to prove, inferiority complex perhaps? Just as women dislike the unrealistic models wearing clothes that make feel under pressure I’m not keen when it comes to male models all being 6 foot plus with chins like wardrobes. In my chosen sport being short is an advantage, cycling, you do not see many hill climbers above 5’8" and over 160 pounds. ---

I dont care about how tall a guy is, as long as he is fine with his hight and doesnt whine around about “too short” “too tall” all the time… **Good idea for the day: Find a boyfriend at about your hight… you can steal his cloths. 😃** dodgy ---

I’m 5’6 (I think… I’m 160ish cms, someone else do the converting) and the only thing that annoys me is that I sometimes find it hard to talk to my friends, as most of them are several sizes taller than me. But being short is cool. I like it. It means that at the end of a big night I’ve got less far to fall when I lose control of my legs. ---

You (and **Wendell** and others) are perfectly right that stupid expectations run both ways. Fair’s fair. We’ve been extolling confidence, etc. as the crucial things. But the same confidence (etc.) that might be taken for granted in someone “6 foot plus with chin like a wardrobe” \ can get written off as Napoleon-wannabe in someone shorter. 'Tain’t right somehow. Not to mention stupid. I’m sure not proud that Mike (_maybe_5’5") had to calm me (5’11") down repeatedly that he didn’t mind the height difference. In a way my worrying about it so much for his sake was an insult, though I didn’t see it at the time. He had character to burn, let me tell ya. Truly weird, once he erased the non-problem I felt less self-conscious about my own height anytime before or since. Wore heels if they made me feel pretty, just didn’t _think_ about it. But his strength and confidence made it happen, not mine. Objectively speaking, I’m rambling all over the damned landscape again. Sorry. Veb ---

My dad was 5’5" (he said 5’6", Mom says not) and she’s 5’9". Short guys rock. 🙂 ---

I’m 5’7", and I love short men (my height and shorter). Both of my husbands have been short, and all of my boyfriends have been 5’10" or less. I think it’s mostly because I find tall men to be fairly intimidating. And it’s easier to kiss standing up 🙂 Robin ---

The whole notion that dictators are typically short is a myth. Neither Hitler nor Napoleon was more than marginally shorter than average. Napoleon was about 5’7". Hitler, based on the pictures I’ve looked at, was about the same height. Given that the average height for adult American men these days in 5’9.1" and given that the average height in early 20th century Germany and early 19th century France was probably an inch or so shorter, neither Hitler nor Napoleon was short. ---

I’m 5,10 1/2’ so I consider my husbands 5,8’ to be short. I always thought I was attracted to really tall men, because I was tall. Then I realized how cute it is to have a short man who (usually) is compact and muscular. And, yes they do have cuter butts.
