Should comic book characters age in real time?

I think Punisher’s only OLD in his Max series - he’s certainly not been DRAWN as a 60+ year old in his 616 book(s). A fit 40, at most. Which doesn’t put any real-world war at a convenient place for him - unfortunately, since he did mention having been a soldier in a Civil War tie-in with Captain America.

He keeps fit, and has a hobby. That keeps him young.
