I wanted my piercing from the age of 12, and had to wait until I was 18. So I did, and as I said, it’s been a lifelong thing. I don’t think eyebrow piercings are going to be lifelong as they are much more inconvenient. But yes, don’t hang your keys from your piercing. Oh, and the tattoo? Wanted one all my life and finally got one a couple of years ago. Also I work in an office and am a professional. Piercings do not completely invalidate your chances, but they may limit them. ---

I thought I wanted a face piercing of some sort, so I bought a fake eyebrow/nose/lip ring. I tried it on in succession on my eyebrow/nose/lip and found that it looked awful on all three places. Just didn’t look right on my face. So I didn’t get a piercing. Get a fake one and see if you like how it looks. If you like it, then get the piercing. ---

Do it, as long as you know you’ll follow through with the aftercare. I’m a 57 y.o. male. Over the years I’ve accumulated a dozen piercings in my left ear, one in my right tragus, and a nipple. I love them all, especially the tragus. If one of my kids wanted, at your age, to get an eyebrow done I would (did) tell my daughter to get her bellybutton or tongue first (she chose bellybutton) as “practice” before doing a facial pierce. ---

Since it’s removable and leaves only the tiniest scar behind, I’d say go for it. You only get to be young once and if that’s not the time for doing silly stuff, I don’t know what is. Of course, at 47 I still do silly stuff, but trust me, the peer pressure is worse. ---

Get a haircut, wash your face more often (to get rid of acne), shave off your hobo beard, turn your baseball cap around, throw away your Magic the Gathering cards, and stop fetishizing degenerate American black youth culture. If you get a facial piercing, I hope you understand that you will not be able to find respectable employment. ---

If he wanted to get his eyebrow pierced (or ears) I would let him. Lip or nose, which I believe would leave a bit more visible scar, I would probably suggest he wait. Not that you asked, but I kind of like your messy, longish hair, but don’t really care for the facial hair. ---

Do what you want - it’s your look, your body, your life. And your decision. Besides, I can’t think of a group whose collective opinion should matter less than SDMB posters. It’s virtually certain that we aren’t going to date you, we aren’t going to hire you, we aren’t going to admit you to college. And a lot of us are old farts. If you _must_ make a decision based on what others think, ask people around you whose opinion could actually have some impact on your life. PS to others in the thread - Does this remind anyone else of that other thread where the young man posted a photo of himself so we could all look at it and tell him he was good-looking? I can’t think of the poster’s name or his exact question any more, but I’m getting similar vibes here. ---

I would rather you didn’t; I would imagine your brushing the hair out of your eyes, catching the eyebrow ring with something, and ripping it right out. I wouldn’t like that - the blood wouldn’t bother me, but the torn flesh would. In short, I don’t think it would suit you, but I am not an objective observer.
