Should I get an Xbox 360 for Christmas?

Unless you actually want a given game at a given time, in which case, it’s not.

If someone is incapable of taking advantage of the bajillion different sales from online digital retailers, that’s on them. I’m sure there’s people who foolishly pay full MSRP for all manner of things because they’re not savvy shoppers.

And as mentioned many times, even buying a game right out of the gate is, often times, $10 to $20 cheaper on PC.

Console gamers who purchased Xcom when it came out payed $60. I payed $35. And I felt good about it because the devs were STILL receiving more money for my (digital) purchase than they were for full on $60 retail purchases.

I see 2 different $250 “Holiday Bundles” on Amazon, one that includes Forza 4 and Skyrim, and another with a couple of Disney games and a Kinect. If a Kinect is something you’re interested in, that’s a fantastic deal (Kinect is $100 on its own), but you’d have to get a 250GB HDD (it only comes with 4GB).

And if you don’t want the games, you can always trade them in. You can even trade them in right back to Amazon. Think of it as getting an Xbox 360 plus a $37 credit toward a game (Forza 4 trades in for $22, Skyrim for $15 on Amazon currently; I don’t know about the Kinect games).

You shouldn’t want kinect.

No really, unless you are planning on entertaining 5 year olds, do not bother with it.

I’d go for the Skyrim deal.

Just thought I’d close the loop on this thread - I ended up buying the 250GB Holiday Bundle with Forza 4 and Skyrim (and will be immediately trading in Forza 4).

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts in this thread. Can’t wait to unwrap my new toy!
