I don’t know what 72k views translates into revenue for Straight Dope, but I suppose it’s at least a little bit of money. Looking at your handful of threads, you don’t seem to get many replies. How does it feel to be boring? I could add up all the views that all of my threads have got, but it’s too boring. Straight dope is slowly dying. Probably because it’s become an echo chamber, where dissenting views are drowned out by insults, and interesting threads are locked by moderators. ---

That’s the point - that they’re getting taken for granted and they want to emphasize the impact of their work on society.
