What reason have you to think their behavior is hereditary?
Where did I say that?
No one here is making excuses for scumbags. In fact, I don’t believe that scumbags have come up in the conversation previous to this point. We’re just pointing out that your idea is really, really horrible. Please try to pay attention to what we’re *actually * saying. Perhaps that would even make it possible for you to address what we’re actually saying.
You’re correct that a few YouTube clips would be a waste of time, but I don’t know why you’re so reluctant to defending your idea. I mean, it’s a really bad idea, but you could at least stick up for it.
My head hurts.
There’s nothing unkind or unfair or evil about anything I said. I love people, I love life, I love the earth, I love God. Therefore, I see no harm in implementing a strategy that will lesson the likelyhood of horrible people coming into this world so that they can keep the disease of ill parenting going until eventually life becomes utterly unbearable for all. It makes no difference to me if it’s nature or nurture, the truth is in the results.
Cripes. One can’t even walk down the street without worrying about getting knocked over the head!
Your head hurts from what?
Everything about what you want to do is unkind, unfair, and evil. If you love people, life, the Earth, and God, then why do you wish to interfere so egregiously with the “natural” order of things? Because I’ve got to say, your plan? Not very Christian of you.
Damn double post.
That’s your opinion.
Then why not sterilize everybody? It’s a much more certain way to get what you want.
The results you won’t even try to prove.
This self-pitying garbage is even worse than your arguing style. This is a waste of time. I’m out of here unless you provide some information to go with your doomsaying.
Those nice kind people in America in the early twentieth century were worried as well about the same things you were. And they thought the truth was in the results as well.
They went around and forcably sterilized about 60,000 people just in this country alone.
This is what the movement you seem to be all for actually did just in this country. Abroad, they did far worse. All for the love of life and people and earth and God that you proclaim.
You want to dismiss this, but you can’t. Not without being honest. You seem to want to become a kind, modern eugenicist, not like those monsters in the past, yet you can’t explain what they did wrong or how you would be different.
I’m pretty close to Pitting you for all of this, and some other things you said in other threads. In this forum, I think I can safely say that your views sicken me.
A reproduction-licensing regime (as distinct from a childrearing-licensing regime) can be justified only on the basis of eugenics – which is irrelevant to learned behaviors.
Just out of curiosity, DianaG; have you, ah, had a few “scrapes” with the law yourself? And, um, do you, ah, know the name of your children’s father(s)? And … um … have you been on the old welfare for very long?
Don’t hate me for asking; I’m sure you’re a real pillar in your community … though I can’t help but wonder as any reasonable person would, considering.
I’ll indulge you.
No.
Yes.
Off for 13 years.
Now what else ya got? Are you here to defend your idea, or to insult me?
If you think my views sicken you, just hang around long enough (in this decaying over-populated world) to see that river of garbage I mentioned earlier – a veritable river of utter garbage! Check out one of those soon-to-be-here third world hell holes and then come back and talk to me about being sickened!
I like you. I think you know that.
You’re the only one that debates a solid debate in this place; little wonder I’d have to throw a curve ball to try and detract you a bit.
Theories have their place. Reality trumps theory.
Susan Smith, Adolf Hitler, Ted Koppel, Ted Bundy. All evil and terrible people that have done great, GREAT harm to others. “IF” these horrible people’s mothers and fathers had been screened via a process like that of which I have in mind, these SOBs would never had been born and thus the heartache they’ve caused many to suffer would never have happened. How much plainer than that can I make it?
Now excuse me. Bob Barker – a wonderful human being! – is about to host the Price Is Right.
Later!
Hitler was born to a respectable middle-class family with no known pathologies. Whatever made him what he was, it was nothing the most careful government official/social worker/reproduction licensing authority could have predicted. No rational eugenic screening system could have prevented him.
I’ll probably regret asking this, but why is Ted Koppel on that list? One is pleased to jest?
I think that this thread points to, among other things, the desire some people have for a concrete, understandable reason why person X does bad thing Y. Some people need for there to be reasons, and once they’ve latched onto one, well that reason becomes the bogeyman for their fear.
GuyNblueJeans, you started out with sweeping generalizations that have been successfully challenged with no significant rebuttal from you.
Now you have wandered into the realm of personal insult while still refusing to address specific issues. (Old TV shows, YouTube slices of life, and broad claims not based in fact do not make successful debate.)
Either address the specific points made without any more personal observations or questions), or take your show over to the Pit.
You are out of line, here, and I would not want to have to do any screening regardng the posting privileges of any posters.

Okay. I have been defeated. Game over.
Thanks All.
Perhaps because he once read the names of the soldiers killed in Iraq? I know he’s been attacked on some right-wing sites for that.
I can totally see where he belongs on a list with Hitler for that.
