What charges would the U.S. government bring against non-U.S. citizen Assange? Receiving stolen goods?
Asshole Manning stole classified documents and released them to asshole Assange.
There is absolutely no evidence of any U.S. charges pending against Assange, in spite of what asshole Assange, and CNN, might imply.
The Express papers have been through a chequered history over the decades as news vehicles, as distinct from propaganda platforms for successive proprietors’ opinions, or just as sensationalist gossip sheets. My guess is that it was easier and cheaper for them to lift this story rather than actually employ any serious journalists.
I’d only ever take note of the broadsheets in the UK, and they have their own slants and special interests, too.
How does tongue in cheek hyperbole advance a (Great) Debate?
DrDeth:
Completely false.
I had access to some classified info, and *none *of it was like that.
Besides, many, many people can see classified info, and someone would have spilled the beans. True the pentagon pagers did show a seamy underside, but not like you say. Nor have any other dumps/leaks.
Have you read the Pentagon Papers?. They didn’t seem to me to show a seamy underside, but I don’t know what the political context was.
doorhinge:
Given that the NSA, CIA, and FBI (why weren’t the other members of the Whitehouse claimed 17 agencies included?) have recently released a 25 page report stating that Russia Today/RT is a leading purveyor of misleading and fake news, I wonder why the Express would chose to help Russia Today/RT spread propaganda and horseshit? I would hope that there are other, more trustworthy, news organizations available?
The Express is also a purveyor of misleading/fake news. In journalistic terms, it’s about a step above the National Enquirer . Most UK tabloids are.
I think that’s an extremely specious conclusion given that half the document was redacted.
