I’ll agree with this but sauerkraut can/may go on both of them.

I’M COMING AT YOU…to get a hot dog with mustard and ketchup on it, because that’s how I like mine too. What are hot dogs in Tel Aviv like? (Beef, I’m assuming.)

Onions are tolerable but not necessary. Relish is horrible. Chili is just too messy.

Oh sure, unless you’ve ordered a chili dog or something specialist, hot dogs should come plain for the consumer to augment with whatever condiments desired. No argument there.

OK, I just killed some relish for you. It’s dead. 😛

Since you said ‘or’, I commuted the ketchup’s sentence to life imprisonment in my fridge. 😃

I continue to fail to understand this worship of the parts of the animal of such low regard that they couldn’t be sold as a cut of meat, or even as ground beef or chicken or whatever.

The notion that such an agglomeration of bits of meat you’d never use for any better purpose shouldn’t be touched by a tomato-based condiment is truly bizarre. It’s like saying a sandwich of bologna and pasteurized process cheese food on Wonder bread should never be made with Miracle Whip, but only with real mayo.

It is _not_ like pouring A-1 Sauce all over one’s filet mignon, which is how you guys seem to react to people who don’t eat these leftover scraps in the manner your nutso cult insists they be eaten.

Try a nice kosher hotdog, much better tasting. But I’ll still put ketchup on it.

I must admit that when I was a child I loathed mustard or anything tangy/spicy and loved ketchup on hotdogs. Now I consider it an abomination. I can tolerate it if both are used but there better be fied onions and other goodies on it too.

I only ever see a ‘condiment area’ at gas stations during road trips, and then it’s often just bins of packets. Around here, restaurants with hot dogs only have a ketchup pump for public dispensing.

My description fits kosher hot dogs just fine. Kosher dogs differ by (a) the cows and chickens having been slaughtered in accordance with Jewish law, and especially (b) no pig bits allowed.

Putting ketchup on hotdogs is simply admitting that you like ketchup to the exclusion of anything else on the planet. Mustard and relish enhances. Ketchup masks.

I see them at food trucks. The one I get my half-smokes at, at the local farmers’ market during the summer, sets up a small table next to the truck, with ketchup and mustard and relish and vinegar and stuff - not that I put any of that on a half-smoke: I don’t want to drown out the spices.

Now if someone puts ketchup on everything from lobster to dark chocolate, you might have an argument. But the most that putting ketchup on hot dogs can possibly mean is that one likes ketchup to the exclusion of _hot dogs_.

I’d disagree with that too, but I’ll save that for another time. 🙂

You think ketchup masks and mustard doesn’t? What kind of weak-ass mustard are you using?
