Should Stiletto Heels Be Banned as Dangerous Weapon?

In these shoes? I doubt you’d survive.

Why? What is so terrible about background checks?

Because it’s a slippery slope that leads directly to registration and then confiscation.

We’ll ignore that the law specifically banned a registry, and the time to potentially go to the barricades would be if a federal registry was actually proposed.

Because, you know, FREEDOM!

There is nothing to prevent the government (state or federal) from banning them. While the constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms, it says nothing about feet.

And every day millions of children are trapped in homes with smoking co-inhabitants. From the same link, 49,000 of those deaths are from second hand exposure.

Won’t someone think of the children!?

Just what kind of shoes you’re wearing, so you don’t fall.

Are you implying that no one is concerned about home secondhand smoke?

Oh yes! Stilettos and all high heel shoes ought to be banned - dangerous things!:stuck_out_tongue:

Obviously not.

The argument that “Item X is just as deadly as a gun,” is stupid when you think about it. And it’s not that it’s because “Item X” is not used as often to kill, it’s because gun advocates would NEVER replace their guns with “Item X.”

Example: “Woman kills someone with high heels, why don’t we ban them? See they kill just as well as a gun!” Fine, if you REALLY believe that heels are just as deadly as a gun, why don’t you arm yourself with high heels instead of a gun? They’re much more accessible.

“You know, you can kill people with a baseball bat! Why don’t we ban those too!”

Fine, why don’t you just choose to protect yourself with a baseball bat since it’s just the same as using a gun?

If you want to own a gun, fine, just don’t make the argument that “Killing with Item X = Killing with a gun.”

If gun advocates really believed that argument, then they could carry matches, machetes, baseball bats, cars, chairs and any other thing I’ve seen gun advocates equate to the killing power of a gun INSTEAD of a gun. They never admit that it really IS different even though their behavior says otherwise. When a gun advocate actually gives up a gun in favor of what he claims is just as bad, then I’ll believe the argument.

I’m stating that I can find 20 threads started this year here bemoaning the evil guns. Most of them having at least one pathetic poster comparing pistols and penises. I’m not going to waste my time searching, but I’d be willing to bet that I might find 2 threads complaining about tobacco in the past 10 years. Then I’ll double down that no one has bothered comparing cigars to penises, those are reserved for Clinton bashing.

440,000 tobacco deaths to 10,000 gun deaths annually seems like a valid argument to me if you’re trying to decide where to focus your resources to save lives. Never mind that what the NRA spends is chump change compared to big tobacco, it’s the principle of the thing. Think of the children!!

You are right that I won’t be trading my Beretta in for a carton of Winstons though.
