# Should the American Left reclaim Patriotism?

Now that’s a new level of ideological weirdness I hadn’t run across. I’d be curious if you had a link to someone defending that proposition, because I’m curious to just how they are arguing something like for example [Ukiyo-e nature scenes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukiyo-e) (which show up incessantly on calendars) are the result of Western Imperialism. I mean Hokusai was dead well before Admiral Perry “opened Japan.”
