JThunder: You’re right - not all of them are luddites. And neither was the Catholic Church in Galileo’s day. It’s just that there were avenues of scientific inquiry that they thought should not be allowed, for what they considered to be reasons of morality and theology.
So now here we are in the 21st century, and people are trying to stop cloning research because it is ‘playing god’. Just as some people tried to stop cryogenics, test-tube babies, organ transplants, modern diagnostic medicine, dissection for studying the human body, astronomy, physics…
Some things never change. And those people who opposed all of those things throughout the decades and centuries were universally wrong, just as the opponents of cloning research are wrong today.
