No ideologies should be “banned”. What happens if someone comes along and decides Liberalism needs to be banned?
Doubtless someone will come along with a patient explanation of why Liberalism meets an objective standard of universal decency, thus putting it above a mere “ideology”. ( )
Reminds me of Popper’s views concerning tolerance:
This, I think, is another fundamental difference that greatly affects this whole discussion.
Thanks for the link in the following post; I’d been curious about the legal angle, and it seems like a great place to start.
There is a petition on Change.org to criminalize the display of Nazi symbols, including tattoos.
Pity the Hindus, then, for whom the swastika has a very different meaning.
However, I have a cunning plan - trademark the Nazi logos. Then trademark law can be used against those who use the swastika in a Naz style.
One thing that should *not *be done is stabbing someone just because their hairstyle looks like a neo-Nazi’s.
Fundamentally incorrect.
Im pretty sure that just about every flavor of WS/Nazi in the US would be very content to see everyone they dislike voluntarily leave the country without a single incident of violence.
I think you’re too late:
ETA: looks like someone had your exact plan, but it sounds like it’s a no-go:
I wouldn’t bother banning the ideology, but I would make it a requirement for first-grade science classes to mention melanin and its function, at least in general terms.
They wouldn’t mind, no. But I honestly wonder which they’d PREFER.
No ideology should be banned.
Direct calls for violence or violent rhetoric are one thing, but as has been said ad nauseum, it is a slippery slope, and when you can ban one ideology, any ideology can be fair game for being banned.
