So, I helped out an acquaintance with a little project, and she offered me the use of her shower (I was pretty filthy). Very nice guest bathroom, with a huge shower. In the shower was a very nice squeegee. WTF? I wasn’t sure what to do, having never encountered a squeegee in a shower before. Sure, I’ve seen street people washing car windshields, but this seemed so different. Wanting to “do the right thing” I squeegeed the shower walls when I was finished. You could not tell the shower had been used. In addition I made sure there wasn’t so much as a single pubic hair on the soap. Was I right or wrong? Any possibility that she is telling people about the wacky guy who showered at her place and then squeegeed up after his self? ---

You did the right thing. The squeegee is there to wipe down the walls so they won’t get all spotty as the water droplets dry. ---

[QUOTE=kayaker] People really do this? [/QUOTE] Yep. Every day. Our shower is all glass (Not by our choice, I promise!) and squeegee-ing the glass after every shower lets us stretch time between cleanings to two or three weeks. Without the squeegee, the glass looks like hell after two days. ---

We have a big glass-enclosed shower and water drops are a bitch to deal with. So to keep the glass in good shape as well as looking nice, we squeegee the glass. ---

We have fairly hard water in our area (it’s rich in dissolved minerals) and water that takes a while to dry, as it does in a humid bathroom, leaves big white marks that are a pain to clean and look bad on clear glass. Yes, OP, ya did the right thing. Go you! 🙂 ---

I notice everyone is addressing the squeegee and ignoring the care he took in not leaving any pubic hairs on the soap, which is the mark of truly good guest. ---

I once had a girlfriend who had a squeegee in the shower so I used it on the door when I was done. Should I have done the tile walls as well? ---

Yes, at my parent’s house too. Etiquette for family members: Last one to use the shower (there’s only three of us, so we usually know who it is) uses the squeegee. For guests it is optional. ---

Wiping down the walls reduced moisture and mildew. It lengthens the time between completely cleaning the shower. ---

This thread strikes me as a little weird. I mean, if I have a guest I expect them not to trash the place, but expecting them to _clean the bathroom_ is pretty inhospitable. ---

I wouldn’t expect a guest to squeegee after themselves. The squeegee just lives in the shower. If they wanted to squeegee, they could, but I won’t make them. I like the word squeegee, but hate with a passion the squeaks and squeals it makes while doing it’s job. Especially if I’m sleeping. Correction, WAS sleeping. There is just no possible way to squeegee quietly. (I don’t think I’ve ever used that many "q"s at one time in my whole life!) ---

We use ours on just the glass partisan every time we finish showering. It keeps the glass spotless and it only takes about a minute or two.
