Yeah, I know, this is pretty cheesy of me, attention-whore-y and all that, but I can’t help it. After almost 4 months of work, we’ve completed the first phase of our remodeling and I just have to share. I stood as close as I could to where I took the original photos, and I added a few more.
I’m not all that thrilled with some of the furniture, but a little upholstery will help a lot, and we will build some end tables and cabinetry eventually. Day-um, no wonder you don’t have time to spend hours BSing with your friends on IM!
Looks amazing, it truly does. I esp. like the painted fireplace – that makes a huge difference. (Well, that and the new window in the kitchen, and adding the foyer space, and knocking down the wall to the family room, and moving the door to the dining room, and … )

I like the bar lights over the sink. Nice re-use of something.

WOW! That is gorgeous. We’ve been futzing about with our place for a year now, mostly just paint and some new floors. I can’t imagine the amount of work you’ve put in. I am really impressed. I might go ahead with my kitchen/laundry room remodel now, with the inspiration you’ve provided.

I was just last week wondering how your remodeling was going. Now I know…that it’s fabulous! What was formerly The World’s Ugliest Kitchen is beautiful now!

**delphica** , in previous houses, I always regretted not taking before and after pics. Having a digital camera makes it so much easier!
**Abbie Carmichael** , I’d love to get the reaction of the previous owners. Too bad they moved so far away - I’d invite them over to see it.
**Marsie** , I was really nervous about the living room color, but my husband really wanted to go with a darker, warmer color. I figured worse case, I’d have to repaint. But I’ve come to love the color, and I especially love the foyer tiles he installed.
And to all, thanks so much for your kind words. We really are proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we’re most definitely taking a break before attacking the bedrooms and bathrooms. My next chore is raking leaves…

**ava** , I don’t think it’s that we’re artistic. But we are engineers, so we approached it as an engineering problem - how to make our living space better for us. As for the artsy part, my husband has a good eye for color and style, and when we couldn’t agree, I often yielded to his taste. He’s argue to the contrary, but I didn’t want the foyer or the painted fireplace or the living room color, and he was right in all 3 cases.

You’ve done a beautiful job! The living room color looks gorgeous. I keep trying to get the nerve up to do one of my rooms in a darker color. Seeing a real-life example is really encouraging.
Looks like all that work is really paying off. Perhaps your next job should be remodeler of Doper homes everywhere… 😃
