Recently we got tired of so much violence in the shows we were watching, and decided that - at least for a while - we were going to watch shows with no murder, mayhem or rape. Currently we are enjoying Emily in Paris, and enjoyed the movie The People We Hate at Weddings. Just wondering what shows/movies you might have enjoyed lately that might appeal to many pamby lightweights such as us? ---

Mythic Quest is also pretty good, also on Apple. It’s a workplace comedy about a video game company, with a mix of overt silliness, office-politics spoofing, cringe, and observational character humor. Once or twice a season, they make an episode that’s a major stylistic departure, and it’s usually the standout of its year. Amazing cast that’s up for anything. ---

The Detectorists has none of those things and is one of the best tv series I’ve ever seen. It sounds/is an odd premise, two best friends are metal detectorists and the series revolves around their relationship and hobby club. It is funny, smart and you’ll feel better about the world after watching it. ---

Watch baseball. Or the cooking or travel channels. Seriously. I’ve gone decades simply not watching what ordinary people call “drama” shows. Have zero interest in it. Whether it’s cops, spies, wars, or the less bloody fare of scheming royals or richies I see zero point in wasting time observing fake people behaving fakely according to a made-up script. ---

I just finished Rutherford Falls on Peacock. It was unfortunately canceled after 2 seasons. It’s a nice show, what I’d describe as a low-key dramedy with no violence of any kind. In fact, zero “bad guys” at all really- every character has their own good and bad qualities but all are basically decent people just trying to navigate their lives, ---

There should be a fair selection of non-violent TV shows on PBS, Nickelodeon and MeTV. After a steady diet of that, you might be ready for a _John Wick_ binge-a-thon. ---

Kim’s Convenience Grace and Frankie Schitt’s Creek Community–if you’re up for something where the cartoonishness is cranked up to 11, the first two or maybe three seasons are pretty good. After that, it has its moments, but overall, it becomes expendable. ---
