I hate-watched the last couple seasons of _Breaking Bad_. I only did it to have something to do with the wife and just to see how much stupid the writers could get away with before mass protests. Sadly, they never came. I hate-DVR _Garfunkel and Oates_ and _Inside Amy Schumer_ for some reason. Ironically, in the case of the latter, the best episode was one she barely appeared in! (12 Angry Men parody) I sometimes hate-watch NASCAR and Indycar racing. I need to watch less TV. ---

**Prison Break**. The first season is awesome, the second season is not as great but still good. (I liked the Alex Mahone character and the actor who played it.) The remaining two seasons were for the most parts cringe worthy, and moreover the story arc seemed like a repetition of the first seasons. But of course, I persisted because I _had_ to finish it, you see. **Heroes**. It’s the same story all over again. After the first season, the story just meandered through. At some point, even hate watching was difficult, because you can’t get yourself to care enough about the show to even hate it. ---

Bones. Brennan is so obnoxious, it’s hard to believe she has any friends. I’m supposed to believe she is so intelligent, yet she can’t figure out how to act with conventional politeness? Yet she understands every little cultural nuance for every other place in the world? At least she and her husband don’t go out in the field anymore so she can beat up suspects (she knows, and is good at, every martial art), because she isn’t a policeman? Same for Blue Bloods. Danny whines every time he doesn’t get his way, whether it breaks the law or not, yet his family thinks he is the best cop to ever wear a badge. ---

This goes back a little ways, but Showtime’s _The Tudors_ was really one of the worst things I have ever seen. So bad, in fact, that Hubby and I had metric tons of fun picking it apart, snarking, and just generally ridiculing it. So naturally we never missed an episode. ---

Are the Duggars the 19 and Counting ones? I watched episodes of that show all night in a hospital and they were so polite and boring that it made Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood look like Idi Amin’s anarchy central. One I used to hate watch was Little House on the Prairie. Mainly I would complain about it straying from the books or being a vehicle for Landon’s moralizing. Sometimes I would draw cartoons spoofing it. ---

Watching _The Newsroom_ gave me the same kind of pleasurable pain as poking at a loosening tooth. Similarly, _Scandal_ ever since the hostage plot has become an exercise in frustration at the mounting dumbness of all involved. At some point, I want to steel myself to marathon _Hostages_, purely based on [this masterful review](http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/off-the-record-106117) at the AV Club. ---

I tend to hate-watch shows that have a lot of potential and a few good (occasionally even great) moments, but still go horribly wrong overall. Shows that I should be enjoying if it weren’t for something screwing it up. So nothing these days. But in previous seasons “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and “SMASH” were shows I hate watched. I sit and watch the result of someone making horrible creative (or financial) decisions and putting it on air, cringing the entire time, because I know that it has the glimmer of a good show buried deep in the mound of crap that I’m watching. ---

**Outlander**. I am now officially hate-watching **Outlander**. I love the book. The book has meant a lot in my life–got me writing my own books. The show has been an embarrassing, tone-deaf horror show start to finish. I am so fucking over it–one episode before the “good part”. You really screwed the pooch on this one, Ronald D. Moore. What the FUCK are you thinking? ---

My wife and I developed a hate-hate relationship with **Ghost Adventures** , the incredibly douchey, ghost-themed bro-down on the Travel Channel. The lead, Zack Bagans, is a pompous dolt who delivers his narration as though tracing his lines with his finger while reading them. Sometimes the docudrama ones like A Haunting could be legitimately interesting in a “treat this as any other TV show” sort of way. I kind of lost interest after a while, especially since as the shows went on longer, they seemed to pander to the intended demographic more. I mean, Ghost Hunters was always full of woo, but they did a lot of pretty good debunking and came up with a lot of “no ghosts” verdicts early on. As the show went on, everything became “we can’t say for sure” and there were fewer and fewer attempts to debunk things, focusing instead on ~interpersonal drama~ and cheap editing for cheap scares. I hate watched it for a while and then just gave up in frustration, sometime around the billion spinoffs like GH: International became a thing. ---

Hardcore Pawn. Thoroughly obnoxious family running a pawn shop in a dying city. The conflicts are so obviously scripted and predictable. The bickering between the brother and sister is overwrought, and the meltdowns of the customers borders on racist parody. Yet I still get stuck on it late at night. ---

A Haunting is actually very good if you treat it as fiction. Interesting thing about that show is it’s always the women who “notice” these ghosts first. Everyone else in the family is doing fine until the get infected with the wife/mother’s craziness. ---
