I’ve read the first 50 pages so far. It’s a pretty easy to read book. I like a lot of what it says - but that’s probably because it is pretty saying the exact same things I have said earlier in this thread and in other threads on this board. I do think Clinton is given a little bit too much of a pass and the Right is given a bit too much flack - but I’m only 50 pages in so I’ll have to see where it goes.
I’m glad to see there is interest in Joseph Stiglitz’s book. One topic it focuses on is the causes of the financial meltdown of 2008. This is a much more important political issue than whether Johnny Bob can have a 20-round magazine for his gun or should be stuck with a 15-round magazine.
Since some low-information voters continue to blame the 2008 crisis on government regulation rather than the lack thereof, let me recommend a good documentary showing some of the criminal behavior that led to that crisis. The documentary includes excerpts from a speech by Nicolas Sarközy, hitherto a right-wing apologist for American neo-imperialism:
Le “Laissez-faire” … c’est fini.
… showing that even right-wingers, at least outside the English-speaking world, can learn.
