I GET IT!!! I GOT IT BACK BEFORE **SPOOFE** KILLED OFF BO DIDDLY!!! Jack Chick is an idiot. Always has been, and barring a brain transplant, always will be. He is a small-minded, hate-filled, walking piece of filth. His ideas are offensive, and the method he uses to spread his unforgiving brand of faith is laughable. But still: Why the hell do we have to have a thread seemingly every week rehashing how stupid he is? It’s been done to death. It’s [in this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=116391), and [this one](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=113467), and [this one,](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=109572) and [this one](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=109572), and I could keep cutting and pasting links from the Pit until the Rapture. I GET IT!!! Everybody gets it. Pointing out Jack Chick’s faults has been done over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over. WARNING Animal-related cliches ahead. So can we please stop beating this dead horse? Jack Chick is clearly a one trick pony, but like every dog, he’s had his day. Mocking Jack Chick is shooting this fish in a barrel. So can we just put this dog to sleep? Please? ---

A very simple solution would be to just avoid Chick threads. That’s the beauty of this board- any subject (just about) is fair game. Besides, by knowing one’s enemy, one can defeat that enemy far easier. And if anyone is an enemy to the fight against ignorance, it’s Chick. And it’s good for a laugh. ---

I’ve noticed an odd fascination with bringing examples of unbelievable idiocy and ignorance to the attention of the boards as a whole, but I don’t see the harm in it. It sometimes makes me laugh. The reason, I suppose, is the boards’ ulterior mission: fighting ignorance. Chick seems to be the most convenient scapegoat because he seems to embody what the message board is struggling against. No one is forcing you to read those threads. ---

Yes, I am extremely proud to be a part of a community that fights ignorance. However, in Jack Chick’s case, ignorance has been fought, beaten, chopped up into itty-bitty bits, pureed, roasted in a 1200 degree oven for 35 years, obliterated, reanimated only to be completely anihalated by a death ray, then cruched underfoot, smushed by mortar and pestle, decomposed, and reduced to subatomic particles. Ooh, a Pit thread that links to one of my threads! Sort of like a SDMB baptism of fire, except maybe more of a baptism of lukewarm water. Anyway, I realize that Jack Chick is seen by most _intelligent_ people to be a total idiot fucknozzle, but the category of “intelligent people” unfortunately does not include, for example, many prominent politicians in the United States who seem to hold similar views to Chick’s. However, this is not to say that dopey little threads such as mine would actually change the opinion of anybody DUMB enough to take Chick seriously. Yet his tracts do have a sort of low-budget bulldada charm: the fact that he has NO DRAWING SKILLS WHATSOEVER (although some of his assistants seem to), his idiosyncratic expressions (HAW HAW HAW! and @#!? for all evil characters, for example), his belief that anybody who isn’t “Christian” (note the quotation marks) hasn’t heard of Jesus, his lame attempts to connect almost every aspect of secular culture with SATAN, etc. I find these things inexplicably humorous, and my stupid thread was just a reflection of that. I’m sure many people here agree with me. And finally, to echo what other people here have said, if you don’t like the topic of a thread, DON’T READ IT. Sorry if that’s a bit too polite for the Pit, you rotting bag of soggy bonobo assholes. ---
