During my two years on this board I’ve learned that had I posted a comment saying, “Well, I saw a bunch of them over at this current events newsgroup” the readership would have wanted to know which newsgroup(s) and thread(s) so I cut and pasted the list of jokes (from a single post) and deposited them into this thread to demonstrate that the only reason the original poster hadn’t seen them is because he hadn’t looked. My post wasn’t intended to offend anyone. It merely disproved the statement of the OP. No apologies. None. ---

You could have made your point by posting the name of the newsgroup. You certainly didn’t have to copy and paste those truly vile jokes here. As a rule, I am in favor of making fun of anything and everything, but it’s just too soon for this kind of crap. ---

elvis, read the OP. it didn’t ask for someone to come along and post a whole bunch of sick jokes, it was a comment on how seriously this has hit everyone. southern style is the one who took the thread into the toilet. ---

If SS had merely posted the name of the newsgroup, anyone who actually wanted to see the sick jokes could have done so. By copying them into the thread, SS has , in essence, hijacked the thread with the very thing, the absence of which the thread was celebrating. That sentence is convoluted but you get the idea. ---

The Onion has a “news brief” in its issue published this week (and distributed the day of the bombing) under the headline “Hostage Negotiator Has To Admit Terrorist Has Good Point.” I write for an alternative paper and we coincidentally had two articles come in on deadline (9/10) with jokey terrorist attack references.
