I’ll be very surprised if the problem doesn’t reappear when I attempt to use the new adapters, also assuming that the adapters work as expected in the first place. But if so I’ll just head back to Best Buy and get them to replace the earbuds. As noted, I always add replacement coverage when I buy earbuds, and will try to trade up to a slightly better pair this time.
I ended up replacing the earbuds, and that’s fixed most of playback issues.
I also got the adapters today…
…aaaaaaaaaand they disable the inline control. Well, it did say 3P X 4P so I had no real reason to expect otherwise, but hoped I’d get lucky. I’m trying to decide now whether to send them back for a refund, or just keep them anyway because they’re still semi-useful to have around.
Right angle adapters that don’t disable the controls, apparently, are just another one of those supremely useful things that would be great to have, but simply aren’t available…like bathrobes with breast pockets for glasses, pens, whatever…
Aw, jeeze. Sorry they didn’t work! Worth a shot anyway, I guess. Boo.
Add the term TRRS to your search… it is the standard for the 4 connector system.
