Long time lurker here, trying to upgrade to newbie. How do I set my sig to automatically be appended to every message I post to the boards? ---

You can’t. You have to check the “Show your signature” box every time you want your sig to show. Incidentally, if and when you change your sig, it will automatically change on all your old posts, too. ---

Lynn, Since so many people take great pride in their sigs, I would have thought that the ‘default’ would be to always include the sig. Supressing it would be an option they would have to select. But that’s just me, I could be worng. ---

People get sick of seeing someones sig on every single post. ---

We ask that posters use their sigs only once per page. We also ask that posters keep their sigs to four lines or less. Sigs are nice little extras, but one’s post should far outweigh one’s sig in entertainment value. If the sig is more amusing than the post, then perhaps one shouldn’t post. And even the wittiest sig gets tiresome with too much repetition. ---

I don’t mind having to check the sig option before posting a message, but I do have one problem. If I check the sig option, then preview before posting, the sig appears in the preview. However, if I then press the submit button that’s right below the preview, the sig will not appear in the message. I have go down the page below the text window and check the sig option again before finally posting. I suppose I’ll get used to this, but it would be better if, when the sig option is checked before previewing, the sig option on the preview page would already be checked. So you wouldn’t have to go down the page again. Anyhoo… ---

**FandJ** - One way that some people deal with it is to put a humorous Location in their profile that reminds people of their sig. Then, if they use the sig once on a thread, people recollect the sig from the location. ---

King E of P, Don’t you find my location - ‘St. Louis Metro area’ hilarious? I guess I need to work on that. And I know I should have highlighted/colored the reference to your handle. I’m still taking baby steps. fandj
