NAF, your first guess in post 149 is the closest, but that’s not saying much. : p FCOD and a few others who guessed: Way off. I notice you all STILL keep on putting the SAME EXACT GUY in the same exact wrong place (or around the same wrong place). Every time, almost. It’s the same guy. Either in the same wrong place or around the same wrong place. It’s hard not to be able to say more but I don’t want to help anyone or give too many clues. I like how you’re talking about Paul’s part and each other’s parts a bit now. That may help. Okay, I’ll give you all a little something: MOST of you are getting the first two (and sometimes first three) people right. Some of you have gotten the first four right at times but not very often. ---

I think the problem is the game setup pre-supposes a slow but steady march towards sufficient knowledge to find the answer. The problem is lack of participation shuts down the information transfer. Furthermore, there is no incentive to tell the truth, which shuts down information transfer entirely. If only one player lied, then maybe by iteration one could come up with the answer, but if 2 lied then finding the correct answer by brute force is not plausible. More than that, and well, no answer is forthcoming. From a game theory point of view, there is no reason to tell the truth. Benefits can be had from lying, and telling the truth only helps your competitors. Plus, no one could even prove that you were lying. Some mechanism for increasing knowledge as time passes is required to keep the game moving. ---
