# Signatures

Apparently, I can’t figure out how to turn on my signature. What do I need to do?

You need to check the “Show your signature” box while you are composing or editing your post.

Here I was thinking it was a permanent box I could check.

No. It defaults to unchecked.

And blessedly so. In many cases, having a signature is like telling me the same joke every time we meet. I finally figured out that I can turn viewing of them off.

As a rule, it’s considered polite to only use your sig once (or less) in a thread.
