Last night my wife and child were out for most of the evening, doing some sort of shopping thing with my mother-in-law. I had the run of the house, no chores to do, the option to stay home and do something thrilling or even hit the town on my own. What I actually did was spend nearly two hours researching and writing a post for the Mafia game in this forum, then go to bed. ---

My husbandā€™s out of town this weekend. Iā€™m really looking forward to it and have been planning my weekend for a monthā€¦ because Iā€™ll have more space available for when I trim my curtains. And no, thatā€™s not a euphemism. ---

Iā€™m so boring that during boring meetings at work I fantasize about spelling reform. See, weā€™ve got all these ambigous and useless characters in our alphabet. Vowels are too variable to represent phonetically, leave the vowels. But consonant reform? Itā€™s a no-brainer. So: Character=current way the sound is written B=B C=Sh D=D F=F, Ph G=Hard G H=H J=J, soft G K=C, K L=L M=M N=N P=P Q=Zhā€¦like in azure R=R S=S T=T V=V W=W, except letter is pronounced ā€œwubā€, not ā€œdouble-uā€ X=Ch Z=Z Ɛ, Ć°=Soft Th ƞ, Ć¾=Hard Th ---

I was dating a guy a while back who would talk about his friends and family who were all circus performers, or government liasions, or professional puppetiers, or spent their summers de-lousing orphans in Somalia. When he was a kid the family had a CIA agent to guard them (I actually donā€™t think that little tidbit is made up, either). Personally, he owned a mine, and printed fabric and did all sort of other wacky stuff. I pretty much decided to quit seeing him when I realized that I was the least interesting person he knew, with little hope of that changing. My current beauā€™s family is much more normal consisting of truckers, and secretaries, and accountants, and lawyers and whatnot. The fact that I occasionally do acting (ala Kramerā€™s ā€œfake patientā€ gig in Seinfield) makes me _fascinating!!_šŸ˜ƒ ---

I donā€™t think that people who are interested in unusual things such as the OED are boring. Whatā€™s boring are people who go around all the time complaining about being bored. Itā€™s like theyā€™re saying ā€œentertain meā€ to the world. If you canā€™t make your own amusement or find things interesting on your own, well then you really are boring. ---

I have found my people. I am dull, dull, dull. I go to bed right after The Daily Show (of which I will not remember the jokes the next day); my idea of a wild and crazy night is a new murder mystery (British preferredā€“Rendell or James or Christie), and some cookie dough on a spoon. I have little in the way of intelligence to contribute here, less humor and no fascinating stories of the past times. I also lack the wit and charm of the average parking ticket. I suck as well as being boring. Iā€™ll stop whining now and go away. ---

Iā€™m so boring. All day at work I deal with explicit imagery of naked women displaying themselves and having sex with each other, and when I get home I animate 3D graphics for fun. Oh wait, thatā€™s not boring at all. ---
