Well, my first reaction to your OP was to search for (and link) the thread over in IMHO recently about whether or not it was okay to throw organic trash out of your car. I’ll let someone else have that fun. I did have a dream last night but decided not to post on it. In it, I met **FairyChatMom** ’s Perfect Child, who was gorgeous and smart and funny – and someone said “Well, of course, she’s got her mom’s looks and her dad’s personality.” Don’t hurt me, **FCM**! It was just a dream! ---

I’ve used acronyms in real life speech. Brother: “And he said, 'Rectum? I damn near \killed\ ‘em!’” Me: “El oh el!” My mom actually “knows” who some of you guys are. If I say \ to her, she’ll respond with something like, “Oh yeah, is s/he the one that…” blahblahblah. It’s disturbing. Also, I think… no, I know there are some people here that know more about me than most of the people I know IRL. (And yes, I’ve said, “eye are el” in real life conversation) Usually if I’m talking about a thread from here, I’ll refer to “That Message Board I Go To” and people around me will get what I’m saying. No one that I know personally (at least, no one I’m aware of) posts here, but some of my immediate family could sign up tomorrow and be instantly familiar with the surroundings here. I’m a sad, sad person. ---

I guess I need to get a life too because there have been many times that I’ve referred to something on the boards by saying “this message board I go to”. I’ve tried to convert friends to the SDMB and so far, there haven’t been any takers. ---

Heh - I’ve tried to convince my SO to join us because he’s got a head for political discussion that’s way above mine, but so far, he won’t take me up on it. And yes, I want to be like **Ginger** and **Dave** , and **Auntie Em** and **SkipMagic** and all of the other married ones we’ve got posting here…unfortunately, he’s more of an email kinda-guy, so it probably won’t happen. If he sees me getting angry or pissed off when I’m online, he’ll usually say “You’re reading political threads on the Dope again, aren’t you? Close the laptop and disconnect. Your face is turning red.”. Which is weird, because I very rarely, if ever, participate in any political threads. I just read them:). Ava ---

I know I’m very new here, and probably breaking a bunch of rules, but I know I spend too much time here because I won’t kill the red spider on my back porch all because of **Sanguine Spider**. I hate spiders…I really, really hate spiders. So now I can’t use my back porch, all because of SDMB. Sigh… ---

I know I spend too much time lurking here because whenever I go to another site, for news and such, I will see an interesting headline and I will consistently mouse over it hoping for a popup to tell me the first couple of sentences of the story so I can determine if I want to read it or not. It’s kind of like wanting to rewind (or fastforward) an IRL conversation when you’ve been watching too many videos. ---

Can’t find it now, but just the other day someone was griping about having written out an exquisitely crafted response which got lost in the ether because a mod had deleted the troll/sock-authored thread while the response was being crafted. & I noted: “You know you spend too much time on the boards when you install a keystroke logger just to keep your most excellent posts from being lost to hamsters or thread-locking mods” ---

I will read parts of threads to my friends, and they will know that I got it from here, without my saying. I also make up threads in my head whenever I’m bored, or something annoys me. Yeah, I’m finding more and more of my conversations with people starting with “On this message board I read, they said…” Font-related jokes are the worst. There was a thread a while ago where somebody was talking about taking a “mighty piss” in a big orange font. Somebody else responded that it should be a “mighty piss” in a big white font, and that the first person should be drinking more water. Trying to tell somebody else that joke in person is only slightly less funny than it was for me to relate it here.
