Silent 'l' in 'folk' and 'yolk'?

California born and raised, lived in MD for the past 20+ years: I was genuinely and completely surprised to read here that there actualy are people anywhere who DON’T pronounce the “L” in Yolk and Folk. But maybe it’s because I’m of German descent… ?

However, I do usually say “Link-in” for Lincoln and “offin” (rhymes with “coffin”) for often. “Off-ten” or “Off-tin” just don’t sound right; way too awkward.

And FWIW, some (including myself, and I have no idea why) Marylanders pronounce the days to the week as “Mondee, Toosdee, Wennsdee, Thursdee, Froydee”, etc.

I pronounce the dark L in folk, yolk, walk, talk and almond, but the L in salmon is silent. I lived in Kentucky for part of my childhood, then moved to Colorado.
