"Silent" Little League Games? Anyone heard of this?

Huh. My training as a softball umpire for house league was the exact opposite: we had the authority to eject anybody, including spectators, from the game. I never heard of anybody actually ejecting a spectator*, but we did have the ability.

Perhaps this was because there was no one else at the diamond who could police the stands; the umpires were the only objective observers there.

    • Although now that I think about it, I once received a warning from an umpire when I was a spectator. The score was about 20-2 and the leading team was bunting. I shouted out something to the effect of, “You’re bunting up by 18? Show some respect!”
