I don’t quite understand the “thread-shitting” comments. How can negative comments – even _extremely_ negative ones – that don’t include personal attacks on any poster be considered wrong or even forbidden in _any_ thread in _any_ forum? WTF? ---

I dunno, I don’t much see the point in criticizing people for their entertainment likes and dislikes, but one has to admit that wishing death on these guys: “Steve-O puts a hook through his cheek and is used as shark bait in the Gulf of Mexico, Bam gets locked in a cage with a king cobra, and Johnny Knoxville is bit repeatedly by a rather large green anaconda” is just nudging them in a direction they seem to already want to go… ---

**Silenus** is one of my favorite dopers, as we’re into many of the same things–Josss Whedon shows, hot sauces, good liquor, cats–so it depressed me to see him rant about a movie he hadn’t seen, something that pisses me off to no end. I’m glad to see he’s retracted his post. ---

[/QUOTE] C’mon, now. You certainly don’t have to have seen the movie to know what these jackasses do. The specific details don’t matter the tiniest little bit in a case like this. Sheesh! As for silenus’ comment about wishing the cast would die making _Jackass 3_, I agree it was a _little_ over the top, but I took in a sense similar to hoping that they’d win a Darwin Award, which in my opinion would be a hell of a lot funnier than the Jackass movies. ---

I saw a few clips on Ebert and Roeper last night. One of them was with a guy standing in the middle of a stadium with an angry bull yak. The guy was blindfolded so there is no way he could really use his reflexes or wits to protect himself. The yak rammed him and it seemed to hurt but a slight move either way by either of them and he would have had a two-foot horn right through the stomach. The cast honestly seems to have a real death wish. I think I would feel damn creeped out watching it and, to be fair to **silenus** (despite the apology), ISTM pretty easy to form an impression of this movie from clips and ads. It’s not like there’s any plot or character development, is there? ---

I’ve got to disagree about pro wrestling. The stunts they do every day ARE inherently dangerous. You do one of those slams or falls wrong and you’ll end up breaking your neck. Of course it’s not “dangerous” in the sense that someone is actually dropping you on your head. But it is definately dangerous in the sense that if your partner doesn’t do the move right he really could drop you on your head. It’s a mistake to compare the danger of pro wrestling to the danger of football or boxing, because pro wrestling is a show rather than a sport. But putting on that show can be dangerous and painful and occasionally deadly. ---
