For some reason I don’t notice it myself, but when people come to my house they always comment on how my fat cats follow me around constantly and want to stay nearby. I’m sure it’s mainly because I’m the kibble lady, but it’s sweet to suddenly realize that if I go from working in my bedroom out to the living room to watch TV, in a very short time all 3 of them have migrated to the living room, too.

When the tiny terror kittens have fallen asleep, TheKid is in her room, and it’s just the Lucy-cat and I curled up on the couch. She’ll lay on my hip, curl up, then sigh. I love that sigh.
When Dot, one of the tiny terrors, is tired, she is just like a toddler. She wants to be involved with everything, but just cannot … keep … her … eyes… open. She will slowly slide to her side, head bowing, SNAP UP, eyes wide, then start the process again with less oomph until she’s out, snoring kitten snores.
Mayme, the other terror, is a purrbox. At night, with Lucy and Dot curled at the end of the bed, she’ll curl up on the pillow alongside of me and purr. I swear she smiles when she does it too.
The best little thing that brings me joy is when TheKid, almost 17, says “I love you, Mommy”.

Also, whenever my kitty looks up at me with his big wide eyes and meows all cute-like. Sometimes, I think he just likes the sound of his own meow.
Same cat is also a long-haired, very soft fluffy cat. So whenever I hold him and put him back down again, his fur will be sticking up every-which-way, which is both cute and hilarious.

Also, the smell of coffee. I love drinking coffee, too, but there is something about the smell. Either when I open a vacuum sealed pack, or when I walk past a bar.
Always though that if there is a heaven, it smells like a waft of coffee on a balmy night in Rome.

Well, isn’t this timely. I was going to post this when it happened. My sister brought me home some Chinese food, and that made me really, really happy. I figured most people would think I was silly for that, but I love it when people do things for me, even if they are quite small.
Just like I was really happy when a certain member sponsored me, even though actually being a member is no big deal to me.

This isn’t exactly silly, but it’s a little thing and it brings me tons of joy every day:
My 10-year-old is still not too old and too cool to come running to the door when I leave home in the morning, giving me a big goodbye hug while saying “I love you, daddy”. Same thing when he goes to bed in the evening.
I know that a few years from now I’m going to miss those golden moments.
Now please excuse me, I must have gotten something in my eye. _sniff_

Getting up in the morning and realizing I have almost _zero_ chores due to the fact that I: emptied and reloaded the dishwasher, took out the trash, laid out clothes for the day, the night before.
Certain songs; I _cannot_ listen to James Taylor singing _Blossom_ or The Mamas and Papas singing _Creeque Alley_ without smiling.
My youngest daughter. Sometimes, for no reason at all, she’ll just come and lay her head on my shoulder and say “You’re the best mother ever!” and she means it. Also, when I told her that we were going to her Aunt Donna’s house for Thanksgiving, and that was lucky for us, because Aunt Donna is the best cook in the family; **mudgirl** said “She is _not_! You are!” Even though Donna really _is_ a better cook than me, it’s nice to treasure those few minutes I have remaining where my going-on-11 daughter still idolizes me!

My kitties great me at the door when I come home, and each of them has their own “happy dance.”
And when I’m preparing their food, they make little meowing and chirping sounds they don’t make any other time.

Before he died last month, the way my dog’s butt wiggled and his little back legs hopped when we started out our daily walk. He just exuded such **joy** at the beginning of a walk. Oh how I miss him.

What sort of animal is a Russian Blue?
My thing: when I pull into the parking lot at work, and “my” space is available. We don’t have assigned spaces or anything, but there’s one I always try to park in, and I like to think that other people avoid it because they always see someone else’s (my) car there, and figure they’ll just leave it for me. There are also way many more spots than necessary, which is why this is just a silly little thing.
When I’ve finished a woodworking project and get to clean the shop again. I love looking around the shop once it’s clean following a project, as if it’s saying to me “I’m ready for the next one, corkboard. Bring it on.”

My current job requires me to wear steel-toed shoes every day. (Well, actually, steel-toed sneakers because Walmart only makes one style for women) At first, I hated it because I love cute shoes, and steel-toed sneakers are not cute. But now I get to wear fun socks to work every day, and that makes me smile.

My two daughters are ALWAYS asking me to tell them stories about when I was a kid and/or funny stories about family. There’s not that many and they’ve heard them a thousand times and I got tired of telling them until I asked them WHY did they like to hear the same stuff over and over again?
They said, “Before you adopted us, we didn’t have any stories.”
I don’t mind so much now.

Driving with the top down on a warm night. Preferably after 10pm when it’s quiet. I’ve driven my car daily for twenty years and have never turned on the radio because the sound of the engine is more beautiful than any human could produce.

You guys, that’s what makes me smile.
Simply the fact that I can post now and then, maybe lurk for a while, maybe drop off of the face of the earth for a while, then come back to familiar names and a few new ones thrown in. But somehow even the new ones seem familiar. It’s like the warm, fuzzy feeling one gets when they come back home after a long absence. Here’s hoping all have a happy and safe holiday weekend.
(Well… that, plus watching kitties fall off of things on the YouTube. That gets me every time.)
