Sim City? No thanks, give me Cities: Skyline! New City building Sim from Paradox!

I placed my land fill out of town and decided to move it closer for better coverage. I built another one and when I try and bulldoze the old one it says building isn’t empty and I can’t eliminate it. Is there a way to do so? Or relocate it?

Click the empty button and wait for the trucks to empty it.

Mind you, they need a place to empty it to. Best bet is an incinerator or else they’ll just fill up a different landfill instead.

Did you just notice the problem, or is it ongoing? Because if you were behind, it takes a while for your services to catch up. People who were sick before will remain sick until you work through the buffer.

Otherwise, the issue is likely traffic.

I’ve already got two others and just want to get rid of this one. Thanks.

I have a really hard time getting offices to level 3. They’re way harder than getting commercial to level 3 or even residential to level 5. I have tons of park, coverage by all services (even education which seems like it should be irrelevant for commercial/industrial/offices), and good public transit options. And they’re still stuck around level 2.5. I pretty much have to flood the area with parks and redundant and unnecessary mass transit lines to get them to upgrade to level 3. Any tips?

Pretty much any and all issues will be related to traffic.

Another potential “sick” issue is noise pollution. People living in loud areas can eventually display a “Citizen is sick!” notification despite there not being any obvious pollution or water issues.

There’s modded “parking lot” parks which seem fair for raising happiness in industrial areas. Who doesn’t like ample free parking? I think this is also the niche the “plaza” parks are supposed to fill. Not so many trees and trails but an open paved area with benches, tables and a couple planters.

Last night I noticed that I had accidentally made a closed loop of one way residential streets with no exit. You could drive in but not legally leave. What made me notice was when I put a bus stop adjacent to it and had a mob of a hundred-plus people waiting for the bus to get the hell out

First patch is out. Fixes parks/commercial bug and allows upgrades to one ways as well as switching directions of one ways. A bunch of other stuff too. I don’t see anything about the Steam overlay issue. Not that big deal, it just might be nice to do screenshots.

Thank heavens. Having to demo one-ways to upgrade them was driving me batty. You never get the same zoning layout and always wind up losing properties even if you rezone them all before the buildings pop.

Thanks for the response. I’ll check that tonight.

The line of sight thing doesn’t make sense to me. Ships can go around corners. The red line actually stops at my bus station, no matter where I have the cargo port, so that was confusing.

I suspect the line-of-sight thing is a game-balance issue rather than an attempt at realism. So you don’t just plop down harbors all over the place.

Do you know what map you’re playing? I’m wondering of it doesn’t have any sea connections, and it connects to your bus terminal because it doesn’t have anywhere else to go. Or something.

For the second time I had the game crash on me while I was on the save screen typing in the name of the save I wanted. In both cases it may not have been the game’s fault - Chrome was being its normal memory hog self and I was dangerously low on memory - but it seems quite bizarre that they both happened to crash right as I was using the save dialogue. Both times it was about 90 minutes of work down the drain. I guess I should get an autosave mod.

I found a very interesting double roundabout design (where one roundabout is elevated over the other) with alternating “spokes” coming from either level, 8 way. I decided to make a district based on the concept including a highway connection. I’m trying to create some unique districts with some flavor rather than trying to expand a densely packed grid.

This is the one I use. It’s configurable, default is 5 minutes. Of course, being a mod, it disables achievements. Although I believe there is a mod to disable disabling achievements.

My worker problem seems to be a lot better. The major complaint in my industrial areas now is “not enough raw goods!” Oddly enough all of these complaints are coming from my industrial parks right next to my cargo station and cargo harbor. I’m also not entirely clear how this is my problem.

“Mayor, we don’t have enough raw goods!”

“Well then, get some raw goods, you fucking pissants.”

Forgot to add, another potential problem is death collection. If you have a bunch of dead people laying around for a while before they get collected, they will make others in their buildings sick. Make sure you have adequate hearses to haul off the dead.

I’ll have to check when I get home. It’s one of the standard maps though, so you’d think it would have everything. Maybe I have to buy the plot that contains the access?

As for which map exactly, I can describe it. It’s a northern Europe kind of look, with 2highways crossing close by and lots of rivers.

Just downloaded this game and played it for a few hours last night. The seaside town of Greenhead is coming along nicely. Still a single tile and mostly level 1 buildings, but I have some very nice traffic circles and alternating one-way street grids that seem to be keeping the traffic flowing nicely. I am finding myself spending a lot of time just following individual citizens around the map as they go to work, shop, etc.

I just checked, and all the default maps except “Two Rivers” have ship connections. It’s the sixth one down here.

That might be it then, thanks for checking!
