# Simon MacCorkindale has died

Remember him from _Manimal_? I had such a huge crush on him back in the day. He lost his battle with cancer at age 58, with wife Susan George by his side.

I’ll miss him.

I saw his death notice on the BBC last night; I knew it was coming, as they announced about a year ago he’d been ill from cancer.

I recall being quite thrilled when he showed up on _Casualty_; I’ve liked him since I was small and saw him on _I, Claudius_ and especially in _Death on the Nile_ back in the '70s. My real regret is I had a chance to see him in the West End quite recently when he did his _Sound of Music_ stint, but was unable to work in into my schedule.

I read an interview with him shortly after he went public with his illness, and apparently he was still working on _Casualty_ while taking cancer treatments; he remarked that it was quite strange to have real life doctors saying to him what he’d been saying as a character on a show!

Pity he went so soon.

I thought he was hella-hot back in the 80s when he was on _Falcon Crest_. When I first saw Jason Isaacs I thought it was him- to me they resemble each other ([MacCorkindale](http://wearemoviegeeks.com/wp-content/simon.jpg)-[Isaacs](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/9357/242581~Jason-Isaacs-Posters.jpg)).

I had a big crush on him when he was on _Counterstrike_ in the early '90s – he had a great voice and great presence. What a shame.
