I **HATE** the now-common practice of pube-shaving. Looks terrible, feels worse, and I strongly suspect it’s far less hygienic. It’s pretty much _ruined_ porn for me. ---

May I propose a third option? Trimmed porn. I don’t like them naturally wild (in porn or in real life), and I don’t need the Great Baldini staring me in the face. I prefer (again, in porn and in life) closely trimmed and neatly maintained. ---

I like trimmed, myself - with an emphasis closer to the shaved side of the spectrum. In my extensive scholarship in the department I’ve encountered all states of cover, and find that to go to either extreme (the north american hairless vs. the raiders of the lost ark) is generally going to be distracting or sacrifice pleasure in the name of aesthetics. I leave you with some lessons from Hank Moody: “One, a morning of awkwardness is better than a night of loneliness. Two, I probably won’t go down in history, but I will go down on your sister. And 3, while I’m down there it might be nice to see a hint of pubis. I’m not talking about a huge 70’s Playboy bush or anything. Just something that reminds me that I’m performing cunnilingus on an adult.” ---

I am 25 and I can only think of one of my friends who doesn’t regular fully wax or shave (and that one friend says she trims really close). Wha? Waxing leaves the skin smooth like silk and when it grows back, the hair is finer (so softer) and more sparse-- not prickly at all. Hell, I get laser, so it’s permanently perfectly smooth and soft there. I know that, for me, it’s annoying when my crotch gets chafed because some dude doesn’t trim his business back enough and it scratches/ irritates my skin. But less hygienic is always the one that gets me. How would removing all the hair that traps sweat, fluids, and god-knows-what be less hygienic? If anything, removing the hair makes it far easier to keep the area clean. Clearly, I’m all for bald or trimmed porn. The whole point of porn is to see what’s going on, so disco bush sort of gets in the way of that. ---
