The contrivance of outsourcing a power plant really had me rolling my eyes, but other than that, not a bad episode.

Just what did the Remington Carriage Museum in Cardston, Alberta do to deserve such scorn, anyway? That just shows how far down the list the writers are after all these years.

I giggled at the subtitle when Homer got off the plane: “65 hours later.” Hee.

Also: “You ignorant American. You have confused India with Indiana, Indiana with Illinois, and the Cubs with the Dodgers.”

Did anyone else who read _The Life of Pi_ catch what was probably a subtle reference to the book in the tiger scene?

I wondered about that, but it was probably just a way to explain the joke. The scene itself was a reference to Frank Stockton’s short story “The Lady or the Tiger?”

Does anyone remember what Homer said exactly?

I thought it was brilliant – but then, I have a few Bollywood films on DVD, and eat that sh\*t up with gravy. (You know what’s missing from American gangster movies? Scenes where massive synchronized musical numbers break out in the middle of drugs/money exchanges, with antagonists taking a break from the tension to bust a few moves with each other and a few hundred extras. Awesome!)

I loved this scene, since when I read the story in high school, after it was set up that the king’s usual form of punishment involved opening a door to find either a lady or a tiger, someone asked, “What if there were two tigers?” Someone else said it wouldn’t be fair. Now it seems it _would_ be fair…if one of the tigers was named Lady.

I think it’s just supposed to be an example of a dull place to go. Patty and Selma have been showing boring slide shows for years. (“Here’s Patty attempting to plug her razor into one of those ungodly Czechoslovakian outlets. As you can see, she never quite got the hang of it.”) But then again, the Simpsons and friends have made visits to bizarre, obscure places in the past- who can forget Bart and friends’s trip to the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee (despite the fact that it hasn’t been there since 1982?)

You know, they actually treated India pretty well in this episode. No songs about drunks and whores, no monkey and rat infestations…

I think it was Notre Dame instead of the Motor Speedway.

Both of them. It went Notre Dame, Indy 500, Wrigley Field and Dodger Dogs.

Crap! I must have gone to the kitchen or something when the Cardston, Alberta reference was made.

Does anyone have the exact quote?

…undoubtedly the best thing to see in Cardston, which isn’t saying much. I went there. It was the Buggy Museum or the giant Mormon Temple.

I just remember the outtake from Homer and Apu. That had to be, what, 12 years ago?
